Hi there,
I’m new to this whole thing and I’m planning on buying a 250w front hub motor wheel from cyclotricity. I think their additional costs for peddle assist and an led are a bit steep and exaggerated so I was wondering first of all wether I can just buy this off eBay/Amazon for instance for the peddle assist sensor could I just buy this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07DCM3285/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_RNxFBbP0XNX9E

And for an LED: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/192418578861

Or is there compatibility issues as far as cable plugs or proprietary stuff goes?

Additionally I want to buy two identical kits and use one battery between them. Should I contact cyclotricity directly to ask if I can buy an additional bottle battery holder or pannier rack depending on which mounting mechanism I go for or should I find a third party one online?

Do cyclotricity 250w kits come with the type of throttle where if you hold it down for a number of seconds it will permanently engage until you press it again?

Thanks for any help

To guarantee it will all work best to buy from same place as software /programming may differ even if same components are bought elsewhere.
We know for instance their KT controller has different software to other KT controllers esp for the illegal dual speed kits.

My advice would be to get all the kit from Cyclotricity direct. I bought one of their kits second hand, but only six months old. There are issues with the rear wheel holding the motor, and they have been good enough to tell me warranty is transferable and I only need pay shipping costs and return wheel to them for replacement. Although the costs might be a few quid more they do aim to support their customers, which is a pretty valuable service if you hit issues, and you will only be able to call on that if you have bought ALL their kit. The throttle I have ( and I believe the only one) is the kind you must hold down the entire time you wish to engage it. I expect it's that way for safety reasons. Hope this helps.
