I did 9 miles earlier mostly throttle and reaching speeds of 19 to 20 mph. Got there in 25 mins.

Way back
Battery cut off half way leaving me to fend for myself and cut my average speed to 12 mph (little more hills and head wind). Making me reach my destination in about 40 mins

that would push the total cost way above your target budget. Your legs will get better, you can reduce assist level on the way home and make the battery last a quarter longer. It's totally achievable.

The battery is only 8.8 aH. 20 miles seems about right for travelling at 19mph. If you turn the power down and reduce your speed to 12 mph, you should be able to get 35 miles.

he need 14mph+ on average to beat the car. Reducing to 12mph to make the battery last won't beat the car. May have to buy a second battery after all.

Pedal on the way. Concentrate on not going beneath 12 Mph.
The easy down hills will bump the average up.
Why worry about beating the car.

I didn't mean you to slow down. I just wanted to point that out in case people thought that the Burisch will only do 20 miles.

That's a bit old-fashioned only having one level of assist. Is the spare controller the same, i.e. no control panel?
