1. 30Q cells
2. GA cells

Stay away from 29E at less than 6P13S

How do you get 17.5 Ah from a GA? 5P = 16.75 and 6P = 20.1...
5 x 10 A = 50 A discharge
6 x 10 A = 60 A discharge

The 30Q batteries are more honest in their description and 4P also delivers 60 A discharge. That is why I put them in first place.

I don't know anything about batteries so take my opinion with a grain of salt but I bought this exact battery from Eclipsebikes and it lasts 50km+ while using pedal assist. My display said it had 60% battery left but that was probably wrong.

The mount absoloutly sucked though and I had to drill holes in the metal plate to make it line up with my bottle holder.

It would help if we knew the size of your motor and controller. there is no point paying for high capacity/discharge cells if you dont want range and are running a low power system.

I think because most sellers rate them at 3500mA capacity
Well then that is false advertising and there are laws against that!

GA cells have a nominative 3350 mAh capacity from the manufacturer. You may get some more in real life then again you may get a little less...

Those are 8.25 Amp discharge cells so if you have a 48v motor with a 20 A controller you are over stressing them, I am not surprised you get that range.

Ok, so as anotherkiwi suggested, the 30Q is prob your best bet as those cells will be under the least stress and should therefor last well.

So I deffinately don't go for the
WHALE 48V 17.5AH LITHIUM ION FRAME BATTERY GA SANYO CELLS?

Go for the
48V 12AH LITHIUM ION FRAME BATTERY 30Q SAMSUNG CELLS?

Even though there is 5.5 difference in the amps? Don't go for the bigger amp?

30Q cells are the best of the bunch.

GA cells are good initially then they apparently loose capacity, rated for 10a @ 60c temp but over heat at this temp approaching 8a draw so spec is a bit ambitious.

29E better in 6p strings.

Check out the Panasonic/Sanyo GA cells yourself with data sheets. You are getting strange info/hearsay on this thread. You won't find better cells at this moment in time for what you want. Don't forget to see if they will upgrade the charger from 2A too.

He wants to climb. For that you need high discharge IIRC so the 30Q is largely superior in that respect with a 25A controller...

Data sheets put out by companies are mainly there to put there technology above the competitors, you have to take their claims with a pinch of salt.

Micah Toll of ebike school.com recently did a temp test with GA's on Endless Sphere and with the 8a load the cells got up to and over 62c above the recommended 60c for 10a draw that is claimed.

Next up he plans to do the same with other top cells like 30Q & MJ1.

Apparently a low - medium 8a rated cell with quite good mah results, probably best in 6P or more.
