I recently bought a Roo-Dog Chic for my wife. She is very happy with its comfortable riding position and low step through. However she is very unhappy with the electric assistance. Whatever the level of assistance used, as soon as she turned the pedals, the bike accelerates off madly, meaning she cannot maintain a steady pace and has to be constantly applying the brakes. This is clearly dangerous.
The supplier and dealer can only say that "some people like it that way, or try using the throttle". I bought the bike so that my wife could enjoy bike riding as she got older, what we have ended up with is a bike that frightens her. Used in a city the bike's behaviour would be lethal.
Does anyone else have experience either with this bike, or with this sort of behaviour?
