BEBA and Velosure launch electric bike insurance

BEBA (British Electric Bicycle Association), the industry association for electric bicycles in the UK, has launched the UK’s first dedicated electric bike insurance policy in conjunction with Velosure.

The policy has been developed by BEBA officials with the needs of electric bike owners at the core of the policy.

The comprehensive policy includes:

  • Protection against theft and accidental damage
  • Public liability up to £2Million for BEBA members brands (£1M for non-BEBA member brands)
  • New-for-old cover, up to 3 years for BEBA members brands (up to 1 year for non‐BEBA member brands) 45 days European cover
  • Free legal assistance
  • The ability to build up no claims
  • Breakdown cover
  • Your choice of repairer

There is a 5% discount available for purchase though the BEBA website and policies for a £1,000 bike start at only £76 for a year.

BEBA Chairman, Mark Loveridge, had this to say: “The industry has needed a dedicated policy to cater for the many thousands of electric bicycle owners on the roads in the UK for sometime now. With our team we have developed a policy that has all the essentials required, plus some ‘nice to haves’ such as breakdown cover and new-for-old replacement. There is now an even stronger need to join BEBA in its efforts to grow the UK electric bike market”.

Managing Director of Velosure, Ken Specter, added: “We are very pleased to have worked with officials at BEBA to create a tailored policy for electric bike owners. Not only does the policy cover all the needs and requirements, but it is also available at an affordable price.”.
