Electric bike with integrated heart monitor launched

50Cycles-Ergo

50 Cycles have today announced their latest import, the Kalkhoff Impulse Ergo, offering an additional health benefit in the shape of a wireless heart monitor.

The Impulse Ergo is an enhanced version of the Agattu, according to 50 Cycles’ website, and is being promoted as unique since it combines the ‘heart monitor, electrical assistance and automatic gears in one package’ with the aim of helping the rider maintain a constant heart rate through steady, sustained exercise.

The company hope the combined package will broaden the appeal of electric bikes to those with health concerns or under doctor’s orders. Tim Snaith of 50 Cycles told Pedelecs: “This is a great development for people who’ve been advised to exercise to recover from a heart condition and for those who know what heart rate they need to burn off fat or to achieve their target level of fitness.”

Further details on the company’s website explains that using the heart-monitoring chest strap ‘you can pre-set your desired heart rate before setting off. Or if you’re on doctor’s orders to cycle, but not cycle too hard, you can even set a warning to sound if you exceed a target heart rate.’
