Ferrari design house, Pininfarina, have created a limited edition electric bike in partnership with Milan’s 43 Cycles, a company that has applied its fashion heritage to the world of creating bespoke bicycles.
The Pininfarina Fuoriserie is being produced in two versions, a ‘luxurious’ Limited edition, with a price tag of 9000 Euros, alongside what is being termed the Naked version, at 5000 Euros.
Pininfarina took inspiration from their iconic cars of the 1930s for the bike’s design. The handlebars and saddle feature an interlaced leather design used in Lancia Astura Bocca interiors, a car designed by Pininfarina in 1936. Bags to accessorize the bike are also available from Italy’s renowned The Bridge leather company.
The hand-made frame is made of chromed steel tubes with a walnut briar-root coating and the Zehus’ Bike+ motor powers the Fuoriserie, which recently made its debut at the Seoul Living Design Fair.
“Pininfarina Fuoriserie bike is a true Pininfarina project” states Chairman Paolo Pininfarina. “It blends our heritage with innovative solutions, it is elegant and exclusive but also highly functional with an eco-friendly soul.”
Referencing the decade from which the ornate design heralds, just 30 bikes are being produced and can be purchased direct from Pininfarina.
43 Cycles are currently producing a speed pedelec model for Europe, described by the company as ‘very elegant and very fast,’ which they plan to present at Eurobike.
