Hi again, I have solved the problem! The end of the hub motor casing does indeed screw into the rest of the casing, but is prevented from turning by a tiny grub screw hidden under a blob of sealant. Once I found and removed this, the rest was easy! Four experienced cycle mechanics as well...

Bearprint motor Thanks for your help. Its great that there are people out there with answers. If I cannot fix the motor casing problem, I will be off to my local Freego dealer, who is quite close to here. I'll post if I do solve the problem as it may help someone else. Alan1954
