    Which type of conversion?

Thanks. Does this mean staring in to the dark abyss of shopping on Aliexpress? What is a 'small' battery? 24v rather than 36v? Or just less ah's? Is 'Yose Power' a reputable source? Cheers, Baggers.

    Which type of conversion?

Hi. Presumably this is the cost of a full conversion kit without battery? Cheers, Baggers.

    Conversion kits and the law

More great info! Thank you! Now potentially the daftest question of all: With a 36v battery and a 250w motor, naturally I assume a 36v-250w controller is in order. What effect would a 36v-350w controller have? Cheers, Baggers.

    Conversion kits and the law

Thank you Neath - really helpful explanation. So from a 24v base, 36v is a helpful real-world upgrade, subject to a 36v controller that can handle 42v? Re. battery 'ah' figures, do these simply mean more range the higher you go? Or do ah figures have further implications? Cheers, Baggers.

Thanks for this reply. Please forgive my ignorance - but what are these 's' numbers of which you speak? Cheers, Baggers.

    Conversion kits and the law

Thank you for this. So is a replacement controller readily available? Presumably, to swap ovee, it needs to be the same physical size as the original, rated 36v and for a brushless motor? Is the wiring to/from these things fairly interchangeable/plug'n'play? I've seen them online but never to...

    Conversion kits and the law

Hi folks, I'm a complete newbie reading this thread and many others on the forum, in order to try and get my head around the electrickery side of things. I have a used bike currently/hopefully winging its way to me, my first step on the ladder. It's a manufactured 24v bike (front-hub brushless...

    Hopper 24v Step-Through Beast

Hi Mike and thanks for this explanation. I guess I will need to get the bike bought & landed, then see exactly what I have to work with, establish options and go from there... Cheers, Baggers.

    Hopper 24v Step-Through Beast

Thanks for this clarification. Presumably any 250w motor is legal in as much as it won't have enough guts to get beyond 15mph on the flat (especially with a portly pilot)? Cheers, Baggers.

    Hopper 24v Step-Through Beast

Thank you! Even more really helpful information. Is a hub-style motor 'direct drive'? Cheers, Baggers.

    Hopper 24v Step-Through Beast

Thank you. Yours was one of the threads that via Google very first led me to this site.... It didn't put me off going in the Hopper direction. Should it have? Cheers, Baggers.

    Hopper 24v Step-Through Beast

Thanks Andy. From what I can see from just a few days' research, in terms of the s/hand market for electric bikes it's fairly polarised: Sub-£400 = generally entry-level cr@p bikes that are more often than not basket-cases. £400-1,000 = not a lot on offer (beyond my budget appetite to have a...
