I'm going on my first organised bike ride - realistically what do I need to take?

you are doing 25 miles. 7.5 mph is about 31/2 hours. Do you know if there is a cafe stop? The temptation is to take everything and overpack. Do take a water bottle, basic repair kit and tools, in case you puncture, and a waterproof. Don't worry about actually doing any repair, on group rides...

    Orbea Gain in the rain

Had my Gain D40 since September. 3,400 miles all weathers. Nothing to worry about. Make sure the cap is covering the charging socket. i tend not to ride through fords (obviously?).

    Orbea Gain auxiliary battery

Spoke to LBS last week after he'd been to an Orbea maintenance training event. They were shown a dummy battery.:D He says they are expected in March. I've done about 2,000 miles on my Orbea, much of it in the peak district. I use mainly eco, (green). I'm managing 50 or so miles with 60%...

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

I've had my ProConnect 9G since January. I've done 2900 miles, climbed 222,400ft = average 76ft per mile. That's quite hilly. Changed brake pads at 1400 miles and again 2800 miles. I put a new chain on at 2200 miles. The cassette 11 tooth sprocket is now showing signs of wear. I inspected the...

Has any other member got a Kalkhoff Sahel i360 Harmony ?

I've got the sprocket, thanks, and I've got the software interface. Plan to sort it out tomorrow. I'm getting used to the bike, had a good run with the club, just 2 of us on ebikes out of 12 today. If you stay in place and don't overtake your unpowered mates on the hills there is no problem on...

Has any other member got a Kalkhoff Sahel i360 Harmony ?

Thanks, mcd, I've ordered the part. Your piece on callibrating the Nuvinci is interesting. I'm emailing NuVinci Europe to see if end users can download the software from Fallbrook and update it themselves or have to pay an approved dealer for the service. When I put the 18T sprocket on, do I...

    How long to re-stitch a wheel ?

I bought Mike's bike. I had it checked by a fellow Cycle Club member. It did indeed have a flat spot. I rang 50cycles to ensure that the rim was centrally placed in relation to the axle. The chainstays are not uniform and the Nuvinci gubbins is added on the outside of the rear sprocket. Also...

Has any other member got a Kalkhoff Sahel i360 Harmony ?

I now have this bike. I've done one ride on it in hilly Derbyshire. It spins out at around 19mph. I would like to fit an 18t rear sprocket. Where did you get your sprocket from? It's pretty good uphill, I've done Beeley Hill in 12min 37 sec which puts me up with the good club cyclists.

    Can I put a 50T chainring on my 600T

I've got at 50T chainwheel and 11 on the back in the highest gear. With 26" wheels that works out at 118 gear inches. It's hard to push on anything but downhill - but it's fast - very fast, I can do 30mph. I've changed it because it's too much - but if I do get a motor fitted I shall put it back on.

    Cytronex kit or alternative?

I spoke to them at the back end of last year and they said 'summer' rather than 'spring'. I wonder how many are on the waiting list - enough to instil a sense of drive & urgency?

    Cytronex kit or alternative?

Thank you all for the input. Very impressive Simon, good to hear Kitchenman's actual experience with Cytronex I think I will probably play safe and wait for the kit. I know it will be pricey but having sacrificed my trip to the International Jew's Harp Convention is Yakustk, Siberia I might be...

    Cytronex kit or alternative?

Looks a good setup but I don't like the battery on the seatpost which I have to lower for folding. Thanks - I will give it due consideration.

    Cytronex kit or alternative?

I've been mulling over the idea of adding some assist to my Dahon Cadenza 26" wheel folder just to help out when, like today, it's fairly windy and to enable me to extend my Sunday ride out. I think Cytronex is probably the best option. I've put myself on their email list for when the kit...
