Thank you, gentlemen. Since there is no significant difference in price here, this is starting to sound like a no-brainer. The only thing I can see that the bottom battery has going for it is a more integrated, neater design, totally outweighted by the practical advantages of the top battery...

Hang on a moment, Bill. If you're fitting a Rohloff gearbox to the installation you describe, with a 73mm bottom bracket, then you want zero (0mm) in spacers. In fact, you will have 2mm too far in spacers. I don't think it will matter all that much, and you can't do anything about it anyway, but...
