    Mid Drive Pashley Sovereign TSDZ2

Thanks for all the positive comments guys. I now have over a thousand miles since the conversion and all is still going well. The only changes I've made are to fit a new (heavy duty) chain and the straps on the panniers have been relocated for aesthetics and convenience, the battery is now less...

TongSheng TSDZ2 making a weird noise after 10 minutes use

One more thought after reading your first post again. You say you had trouble setting up the speed sensor. Are you sure its correct now? The magnet should be 2-3mm from the sensor and in the middle of the "barrel" part, the round part at the end is a screw cover, not the sensor.

TongSheng TSDZ2 making a weird noise after 10 minutes use

Probably not the blue gear after 10 minutes use, however if the circlips on the crank shaft aren't properly seated the drive gear could be jumping. A simple test for this would be to try pushing and pulling one pedal crank, there should be no noticeable end float (in and out), a slight (maybe...

TongSheng TSDZ2 making a weird noise after 10 minutes use

It's hard to tell from the video, but it looked like your chain was jumping. Check that you have a good chain line. To get an idea of the battery/controller condition you really need to use an inline meter (watts/volts/amps) Like this. Checking the battery voltage off load won't tell you much.

    Mid Drive Pashley Sovereign TSDZ2

Thanks guys. These forums were a big help when deciding what kit to choose. It's nice when your cycle clothes are a tweed jacket and flat cap - I'm not built for lycra :D

    Mid Drive Pashley Sovereign TSDZ2

I have recently converted my Sovereign Roadster to Mid drive. The goals of the conversion was to make this heavy bike more usable in hilly areas while preserving the look and character of the bike. The Tongsheng motor fitted with a little fettling; I had to grind out the welds on the bottom...

    Which Bell

I wold second this suggestion. I have the large size, and a gentle squeeze can give a simple "Ding", if that doesn't work the full "Ding Dong" is loud and unusual enough to get most peoples attention

Help with bike choice for old guy :-)

The wonderful thing about advice on a bikes is that there as many opinions as there are bikes. There are 2 very important considerations - you need the range for your journeys and most importantly, you have to feel comfortable with the bike. Obviously these are unusual times and trying to...

    Hi!

Hi, I'm not long registered and thought I should introduce myself. I'm an engineer based in Scotland and old enough to have done a fair bit of work on "pedal and pop" mopeds or "cyclemotors". I've designed and built both 2 stroke and electric mopeds in the past and I love the growing ebike...

Help - kit recommendations for Raleigh Twenty

I would recommend a mid drive kit (more torque) but you'd need to measure the ground clearance with the 20" wheels. Personally I'd use the tongsheng unit as it is smaller and the torque sensing setup will help protect those old hub gears. The down side is you need to put a bit of effort in to...

Help - kit recommendations for Raleigh Twenty

That takes me back - I remember snapping the frame on one of these while doing "wheelies" over a roundabout (40 something years ago:eek:) The ground clearance is probably a bit low for a mid mount kit, and as already mentioned 20" seems to have changed size over the years. The front fork can...

Convert a old lady pashley for hills

Great to see this Pashley conversion. I'm about to convert a Pashley Roadster with a Tongsheng mid drive - the torque sensing on this unit should relieve the strain on the hug gears (fingers crossed). Also the Tongsheng comes with a 42T chain ring matching the original, I'm hoping a little...
