    AS Bikes "Electrobike MK3" Folder

!2 months on and still happy with them. 20 miles on the battery with pedal assistance. Light and easy to lift (23kgs) and built like a tank, we have off roaded and generally abused them. Crank lock nut came undone and this was fixed with new bearings etc. in one day. So service is good. Next...

    Bike security & insurance

My house insurance is with the Co-Op, they put two bikes and any personal stuff taken out of the house on my policy for £32, bargain I think. Geoff

    Smell from Battery?

Ahhhh, 80s USA CB rigs, AM of course, I must admit I never smelt one though! Now the smell from a couple of 4CX250 valves running flat out RF is unforgetable! Geoff

    Tailgator

I tried one (not on e bike) and it damaged the towing bike, there is a lot of stress on both bikes. This is probably due to the way the average child lacks the proper balancing skills. Geoff

    Smell from Battery?

I keep our bikes in the conservatory. It does not get very hot. I notice a smell in the mornings when I open up, I can't describe it but it's a bit like chemicaly rubbery smell. I thought it was the tyres but Mrs hallii ("The Bloodhound") says no, it's from the battery(s). There is no sign...

    Disabled bike rider

I have been reading up on past posts and have done a bit of research elsewhere. From this I deduce that an e-bike cannot be a disabled scooter or whatever you want to call them, i.e. a "Type 2 or 3" mobility vehicle. There are various regs to comply with like 4mph or 8mph, lights horn and...

Just bought an excellent bit of kit for a great price

I could have done with one today, I have been wiring my inverter into my motorhome and it pulls 60 amps at full load, I had to use my gas torch to solder the 8 mm cable and it burns the insulation a bit. Geoff

Do you feel vunerable on road?

Thanks all, some good and interesting input. Yes, I rode my "ordinary" bike for many years, and it is larger than my e bike foler, and it did/does (I have still got it until I clear out the shed!) command a little more respect. It is probably that the smaller appearance of my 20" folder leads...

    Which bike lock?

I need to lock two bikes on my motorhome bike rack, and of course to lamposts etc when we are out and about. Any suggestions for something chainlike that is not to heavy that the lowlifes can't cut with a butter knife? The Kryptonite range looks OK? Geoff

Do you feel vunerable on road?

I do, at least sometimes, a week in, riding my new ebike I find that cars and lorries are underestimating my speed and pulling out, not leaving enough space to overtake and cutting me up in all sorts of ways. I have taken to riding in the middle of the road now, that stops them a bit and leaves...

    AS Bikes "Electrobike MK3" Folder

It gives a good and accurate description. It omits the amp hours of the battery, it is 8.5 amp hours at 36V The motor is rated at 250W. The welding is neat and looks strong, the frame is alloy. The folding mechanism is robust. A six speed Shimano gear set is fitted, the overall...

    Bargain alert!

I have retracted my bid, but I thought it was quite nice in black. Geoff

North Wales coastal cycleway / cycle path Talacre (Point of Ayr) to Penmaenmawr: 34 m

It'sone of these, the MK3 ElectroBike - Mk2 & Mk3 We finally decided on them because we use the bikes a lot when we go off in our motorhome so they won't be in everyday use, they fold so they will go in my "garage" under cover, and they are sold by a company that is not to far away so when...

North Wales coastal cycleway / cycle path Talacre (Point of Ayr) to Penmaenmawr: 34 m

I was on that cycle track a couple of weeks back, (on my non e bike, e bike arrives next week) it is a very quiet and level track with wonderful views. If the wind is strong and off the sea you will know it! geoff

    Where is "Off road" ?

Interesting thread, not all that long ago I used to have a Land Rover and go "Green Laning" (I still have a Land Rover but it was made in 1955 and stays dry). Anyway, I was a member of the Green Lane Association and learned a great deal about what is and is not a public road. What I learned is...
