Charging Lipo from an inverter. Any expereince?

That's interesting to hear. A clamp on meter would be ideal. I think I have one somewhere, I'll check tomorrow. I have emailed Sterling directly about this and will keep the forum updated. Ta.

Charging Lipo from an inverter. Any expereince?

Thanks. Although I think that is what I did (I normally do.) I will try this very deliberately again tomorrow though. What's funny is that the inverter does remain powered up, the bike charger does run, just with a lot less power.

Charging Lipo from an inverter. Any expereince?

Interesting stuff guys. So I've wanted to get a pure sine wave inverter anyway for a while so I went ahead and did it. I bought a 300 watt unit made by Sterling, PN: SIB12300. Very good equipment on the whole so I have no doubts about the unit. What happens is very strange. When charging the...

Brand new conversion, motor's stopped. Hall sensor?

The new controller arrived this morning. Top service! Having fitted it everything's back to normal. Phew. he talked me through the settings on the Cycle Analyst to adjust the acceleration parameters, essentially instead of it limiting volts it's now limiting amps. (Or was it the other way...

Brand new conversion, motor's stopped. Hall sensor?

On the flat it was stuttering (as described) and I did give it full throttle. Why it was stuttering I don't know. This is probably when it happened. I didn't do that, I chose to simplify the procedure and not confuse him by just going through what he said and he didn't mention the C.A. Agreed...

Brand new conversion, motor's stopped. Hall sensor?

OK. Having just spent half an hour relaying back and forth with my supplier I think we have got somewhere. My supplier agrees with you about the controller. He is amazing by the way and I would highly recommend dealing with him. Mobile email iPhone responses right into the evenings and...

Brand new conversion, motor's stopped. Hall sensor?

Thanks guys, I'll check these things. More important info perhaps: When the cables are disconnected the motor turns freely in both directions. When the cables are connected it judders strongly when turning backwards as if you can feel all the magnets.

Brand new conversion, motor's stopped. Hall sensor?

Hi guys. So I've fitted my new conversion kit. Consisting of the following: BMC V4 rear hub motor BMC 50A Controller 14S 10Ah 58.8v lithium polymer battery pack Cycle Analyst V3 It was working fine on the workbench, I even took it for a spin briefly before I neatened up all the cabling etc...

Charging Lipo from an inverter. Any expereince?

Thank you. I'm learning lots here. Are the following statements correct? The BMS that is fitted to the battery pack solely protects from damagingly deep discharge. The BMS fitted to the battery pack plays no role in limiting charge (I have read charging to 90% capacity will drastically increase...

Charging Lipo from an inverter. Any expereince?

For this reason I think I'll go down the inverter route and just deal with the inefficiencies. Inverters are great because they serve so many devices. Out of interest though, how would one wire up three charges to charge one bulk pack? Also, to charge in three stages would that mean opening up...

Charging Lipo from an inverter. Any expereince?

This is what I'm trying to replace. I've never used it for more than ten or twenty mile trips at a time. Hopefully I'll also save a fortune on fuel, tax and insurance not to mention weight and "faff time."

Charging Lipo from an inverter. Any expereince?

I thought it was 518 watt hours. I have 12v 310Ah of Yuasa batteries in the camper, with the 390w of solar on top of that charging should be a doddle, especially in the daytime on a bright day.

Charging Lipo from an inverter. Any expereince?

I do like the look of that. Cheap too. However it states "Can charge 6 cells LiPo battery." Mine is 14 cells right? I'm with you on this converting DC to AC and back again being very inefficient. Most of these DC charges tend to be for RC or Airsoft batteries, charging much smaller packs at a...
