    Golden Girl

2012! Rather than a huge display of international and political one upmanship perhaps we could show some historical highlights of the modern olympiad - from it's humble beginings in Much Wenlock in 1850 to the founding of the IOC in 1896 ( in my opinion William Penny Brooks,Evangelos Zappas and...

Peak Oil - myth or reality ?

Oil - ?? I suspect that profit is the driving force for oil and gas - when it's no longer generating enough profit then alternatives will be realised. The recent high costs are due to supply and demand. On a historical note though - Before and during WW2 Germany started to manufacture...

    Help needed to choose bike

I think that if i was to upgrade from my old 36v sla i would push the boat out and go for the Trek cytronex. Trek is an excellent cycle brand with superb frames!

Cyclists flout the law to stay safe

I think the problem is that people (cyclists/drivers) are forgetting the art of defensive cycling/driving and are putting too much emphasis on aggresive practices. Perhaps a refresher course say every several years or so could help. The IAM caters for motorists - who would cater for the cyclist?

What Is The Best Puncture Resistant Tyre?

I used to have problems with punctures - i tried puncture resistant tyres with no great improvement. I then tried a heavy duty tube - successful so far (300 miles) - touch wood.

Hi ! And is there a tour de Presteign this year?

Presteign and other possible events :) It appears that some would like to attend events like Presteign but find it difficult to get there - not totally surprising seeing as its on the borders. I know that i am relatively new to the LEV/eco scene but would it not help the whole movement if there...

    Another Ebike!

Having just aquired a cheap old ebike for use as spares i have since changed my mind and will use it for fun instead. I think that the hub motor may be a brushed type - how can i find out without dismantling? Also the location of the controller and can i increase it's power from 24v to 32v...

at what fitness level does non electric become more suitable

I dont feel that electric bikes are a just about being unfit/getting fit but more about personal choice and requirements. I consider myself reasonably fit - i have a choice of transportation to work (car, motorbike, electric assisted bike, pedal bike or walk. I prefer to use my electric...

Being "green" is not the best way forward.

We really are stuck for choices are'nt we? We can carry on as we are, birth control, war, euthanasia, genocide, change our nature and behaviour and actually all work for the common good, or wait for the next natural disaster. I would love to see any other alternatives that the world would be...

Being "green" is not the best way forward.

Would'nt Fleccs ideology require a massive change in human nature/behavior? It is afterall basic greed that only ever drives a civilisation forward - i think.:( My self i would truly love to see such a change - but modern times only illustrate that we are still just the same species but with...

Being "green" is not the best way forward.

But who's going to suggest, operate and manage such a plan - especially in light of the last centuries effort? It is currently occuring in the sudan - is'nt it?

Being "green" is not the best way forward.

I dont feel that life would necesarily be better with a drastic population reduction - particularly if it was a sudden population reduction - the survivors would have a lot to compete for and all the consequences of whatever event occured. Also some of the previous posts do show a change in...

Being "green" is not the best way forward.

Flecc - your closing comment is very sad but true for so many (and dangerous). When all the (Living) memories have gone in relation to why global or any other major or minor war starts - will it make a repeat inevitable? Will anyone actually care from the present generations? I hope that we are...
