    no need for high cadence

True, if you've already got arthritic joints. I'm not sure about causation. Stairs exacerbate arthritic pain but walking upstairs didn't necessarily cause them in the first place. K

    no need for high cadence

"The risk at low cadences is more a matter of joint damage, particularly the knees which cyclists often damage." etc Hi Flecc Just interested to know if there's any published evidence for this especially the later arthritis. BW Keith

No longer have a car, new to Ebikes...

Sorry to butt in with an irrelevance. The OP did not say in the first post that he was banned for criminal justice reasons. That may be true but I'm sure there are quite a few pedelecers on here, banned from driving for set periods for medical reasons, who may have a reason to object to some...

Off topic, sorry I'm off to Lanzarotte in a month. Where did you hire the bike from (and how much.) Thanks Keith

    Shunt soldering

Thanks d8veh. I think I understand. Just to check my brain, do you mean that I will get more torque at a lower RPM whatever the assist level set on the LCD. I think I'll give it a go, perhaps less than a quarter as you described a couple of years ago.

    Shunt soldering

Thanks both. ps Anotherkiwi Its a front hub with derailure gears trying to pull a total weight of 120 Kilos! It can just about manage it with a totally fresh battery. I know I need to loose weight.

    Shunt soldering

Yet another probably naïve question. If I solder the shunt on my (no name) controller does it increase the torque throughout the assist range or just at "level" 5 I would like to keep the range offered at lowest assist but be able to cycle up a 10% hill which my current set up wont cope with...

    more trivial battery help please

Thanks Fordulike. Plan B sorted! The reason for thinking of the 09 is its bigger size and therefor potential capacity. I suffer from extreme "range anxiety", not for only distance but also mobile phone (aka GPS) duration. I like the idea of the USB socket for charging. My current battery is a...

    more trivial battery help please

I need to replace the bottle battery on me Trek conversion. Unfortunately the triangle is rather small. As far as I can tell the 09 bottle will just about fit (I've been playing with cardboard templates) as long as only a little forward movement is required to remove it from the mount. Can...

    which cell

Hi all, free advice please. I'm about to replace my 3 year old 9AH bottle battery. Its getting tired and saggy. Is there any advantage in going for Samsung 30Q rather than 29F. I'm running a "250" watt MXUS front hub with the controller provided by cyclotricity about 3 yrs ago. The controller...

Pedelec Accident Data - slowly coming online

A couple of broken ribs is a trivial (if painful) injury for a 20 yr old. The same injury can be lethal for someone who's 70. Do older riders have more accidents or do they just die more easily.
