    band brake

Just an update on my bike, I’ve put the powabyke 200w front hub motor on my old mountain bike and it works a treat. Half the weight of the old powabyke and works well from a couple of 18v batteries in series. Whilst it still isn’t a looker, it works.

    Powabyke Euro to MTB conversation

I’ve removed the hub from an old powabyke, I’ve replaced the motor brushes and replaced the grease. The motor runs very nicely. I’m planning on rebuilding the motor to fit into a 26” wheel, as it is currently in a 24” wheel. I’m currently running it from two 18v 4ah lithium batteries in series...

For your information, my SLA batteries where all dead, the controller was hanging off too. I rigged an 18volt 3ah Bosch drill battery to a switch and...

Want to fit old hub motor to rear of mountain bike

Thanks Woosh, as I suspected. I’ll use my mountain bike as it is, and the old electric bike as it is for the meantime, whilst I think about getting a proper and modern electric bike.

Want to fit old hub motor to rear of mountain bike

I have an old powabyke with a 26” motor hub in the front wheel. The motor is strong and pulls the heavy (40kilo) bike about no problem. However I want to put the motor and wheel on my much lighter mountain bike. The motor is slightly too wide to fit the forks on my MTB, it’ll go in the rear...
