Yes Gavin that is the reason, I've no wish to be that "high profile case" should I be involved in an accident of some kind (regardless of fault) and my bike is not legal as we have unfortunately seen in a few unfortunate cases recently.

I agree with your points , it should be easier to register and the helmet rule is indeed ridiculous, I have a helmet that meets the standards but is designed for speed pedelec so its not so bad.

It certainly would be easier and cheaper been but i've no interest in motorbikes or mopeds, I prefer cycling
