    Torque Arms

The thing about torque arms is, after several builds, one accumulates enough bits and pieces that it makes it easier to fab a TA where the genaric one won't fit. Even so, I couldn't get anything to work mounting one to one side of an EZee to a Rocky Mountain MTB. So I ordered the pricey V4 from...

    Full Suspension or Not?

I don't know about over there, but where I live, used full suspension mountain bikes are the best deal in Ebiking. So many folks go out and spend $1K or $2K(or more) on a MTB, take it out to find out how much work it is and park it. I look for good quality models 4 to 8 years old that have been...

    too much torque

You should be able to get 11/48 gearing on that bike. Since you will only use the sm. gears, just get a cheap cassette and replace it when the 11 T wears out. There is more to tuning up the derailleur than just "aligning the chain" and making it shift. The placement of the last idler wheel in...

    Where's the battery?

I was able to fit 12S/10,400mAh of Multistar Lipo into that exact sm. over-the-frame bag w/ room to spare. The capacity was dictated by the fact the Multistar 4S/5200mAh bricks were on sale for $21US ea. That is a 12S/10,400mAh pack for $138 including the shipping. The clear center pouch is...

To go tubeless or not to go tubeless.

When going tubeless, sometimes it pays to carry a crude Auto tire plug kit. When I am resigned to walking, I head for a convinence store where there is a compressor, Fix-A-Flat in a can and maybe the fore mentioned plug kit.

Tubeless mountain bike set up on the cheap

Actually, the "Tubeless kit" is quite pricey. I have done a lot of these and have modified the procedure along the way. Key points are; 1) Make sure your 20" tube is a threaded Schrader type. 2)Instead of a rim strap, I use double-sided sticky foam tape. This takes up some of the clearance and...

To go tubeless or not to go tubeless.

Just a last comment on tube vs. tubeless; First off, I do not like "Slimed" tubes and liners, which have caused me more problems than they solved. So, I prefer, in this order; 1)The "kevlar" tires like the Schwalbe Marathon, etc., WHEN they fit my needs(size). BUT, my current street Ebike uses...

    Two wheel drive electric bike

Raising the Voltage, of course, increases speed, but has little effect on acceleration and switching high Voltages can be.....complicated. I think a more elegant, versatile, single motor system might be comprised of the new Q128 and the new 500 Watt "torque imitation" controller from BMS Battery.

To go tubeless or not to go tubeless.

I've been doing DIY (ghetto) tubeless for a while now and it does pretty well for the dreaded Goat's Head thorns that are everywhere here in the desert, but my tires occasionlly get impailed by larger objects like cactus spines. And using a car type plug kit feels like removing a splinter from...

Q85 motor cutting out - full throttle

Probably. The only other thing is, sometimes the pins in the white nylon connector blocks don't "lock in" and when they are pushed on during assy., they back out. You might ck. that. EDIT; Looking at the controller spec.s, I was reminded the the ELB controllers do NOT auto switch, you will need...

Q85 motor cutting out - full throttle

Elifebike controllers auto adjust between 2 Voltages and I'm pretty sure the kit supplied controller is a 24V/36V model. They recently added a 6-FET 14A 36V/48V controller to their line-up, so I'm thinking there might be something, other than the LVC's, that is preventing your combo to work...

    Two wheel drive electric bike

This thread seems to have drifted off topic. Back to the 2WD idea, I built a low-powered 2WD 6 years ago and it has, of course, gone thru a number of revisions. I posted a fairly recent build thread here; http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/love-my-cuties.23393/ The pros and cons of 2WD vs...

Hobby king multi star on offer

Well, none of my Battery Medic dirt floor mods worked well. Splitting a balance lead and running two BM's on the same bank of cells won't allow balancing. Each cell value bounces back and forth between the two BM's and won't stabilize. The 24V mini fan won't run off the 22.4 V 6S brick. I'm...
