Mid Drive for off trail and Hub Motor for flat commutes, true or false?

What about the riding experience? Lets say one repalces their chain twice a year, so is not likey to break a chain. Or carries a spare. Forgetting the other issues. Which is the better riding experience for a commute?

Mid Drive for off trail and Hub Motor for flat commutes, true or false?

Seems like a lot of people are saying you should get a Mid-drive if you want to go off road or on hills, which seems to be true. But is it actually true that hub motors are superior for commutes and flat rides? Looking for a commuter bike. What type of motors do people here generally prefer...

Rear hub. If the battery was as you wanted it, what would you think?

What do you think of this bike?

Thinking of getting this bike for the commute. Its BMX style? Stupid to get fat tires for commute? Price is fantastic, its on sale, and German made. Carbon belt. https://urbandrivestyle.com/collections/sales/products/udx-e-fatbike-750w?variant=31708565340238 BMX RE-INVENTED. FULLY ELECTRIC...

Difference between delimited 250w motor VS 500w motor

This is a completely different situation. He was arrested for going over the speed and power limit, not for riding a 250w motor bike on the road that could switch to a 500w bike off road. Situation is not really relevant.

Difference between delimited 250w motor VS 500w motor

Theoritical as in not practical reality. People can buy these bikes, they can insure them, and they are not being pulled over or getting in trouble for riding them. Practically speaking there is no issue at all. I think we all know the 250w rule. But its a fact these cycles are being insured...

Difference between delimited 250w motor VS 500w motor

But you can insure them. On electricbikereview.co.uk there are users who have claimed money for their insured stolen GoCycles. So you can indeed insure them. And there are people here insisting they cannot be insured. Just seems like in practical reality they are actually legal and can be...

Difference between delimited 250w motor VS 500w motor

Not plenty. Pretty much all of them. Van Moof have a huge shop in central London. Every single big cycle dealer sells GoCycles. All the big ones Halfords, FullyCharged. They all provide insurance for GoCyle as well. Just seems hard to believe all Bicycle dealers and shops are all lying and all...

Difference between delimited 250w motor VS 500w motor

GoCycles are illegal? VanMoof are illegal? GoCycles are sold by pretty much all the majory cycle dealers in London. And I know they can be insured. I've inquired because i was going to get one. Both those cycles and tons of others can be easily switched to 500w 20mph mode through the app.

Difference between delimited 250w motor VS 500w motor

Right, right thanks for this. This is what I wanted to know. There seem to be quite a few made in Britain bikes that have off road and on the road capabilities. On the road can be 250w and 15.5 mph, and then with one switch of the button can got to 1000w and up to 35 mph, but I would never...

Difference between delimited 250w motor VS 500w motor

Lets say you get a bike with a 250w motor limited to 15mph and tune it deristrict the speed it can go, so it can go till 25mph. And there is another bike with a 500w motor that can go approximately the same speed when unrestricted, 25mph. Is this roughly the samething? I seem to remember being...

Tried 4 ebikes recently - Van Moof, Haibike, Lime e bike, Uber e bike - only liked one

I have not yet, but am planning to very soon. There are just so many options its quite mind boggling. And I am indecisive and like researching and there are so many considerations. The GoCycle is quite zippy and very nice. Expensive though. And the main problem with the GoCycle for me is you...

Risk of getting your bike stolen in London?

Wow, so essentially anything that looks nice will get stolen? I guess I can only use the GoCycle for the commute as I can take it in with me. Anywhere else, I'd have to park it, as I couldn't very well take it with me into say a cinema. That sucks.

Risk of getting your bike stolen in London?

I still have a few months before I'll have saved all the money I need to get an e-bike finally. Being the indecisive person I am, I am still going back and forth between a regular bike and a foldable. At my new job, I don't have a place to lock up the bike that is enclosed or secured. It...

Is it a bad idea to order an E-bike from another country?

Okay guys, thanks a lot for the advice. I guess I will aim to get one from the UK. Been thinking about this for a long time. Now that I am almost out of probation period at my new job I can get them to get me the bike on the green commute initiative. I'm a terribly indecisive person. But I...
