I'm still very happy with this bike except that my wife likes it too and has nicked it! I'm now back on my road bike.
To solve the problem I've bought the same kit for her 700c specialized vita. It's been supplied with a 22a max controller instead of 17a like mine. I realise that this will give...
You can change the speed limit in the lcd if you really want to. The motor tops out at 18mph anyway though. The max distance I've done on mine is 30miles using power levels 1 to 3 and occasionally 5 for a very steep gravel hill which it flew up with light pedalling! It was still displaying...
Yes, thanks, P2 was set to zero. I set it to 1 and all is well.
The motor tops out at 19mph, which is my top pedaling speed with highest gear, so it's perfect. It will fly up the steepest hill with minimal input from my chicken legs!
Took the Muirwoods out for it's first proper ride this morning. It was magic!
Only problem was that the speedo only registers when pedalling or throttling and reads about twice the value. Could I have got a connection wrong?
I rode mine for a couple of miles today. I found the lowest gear combination and me pedaling flat out topped out at about the same speed as the no load
speed of the motor so I guess thats ideal? I'll check the gear ratios after Christmas. I've got a beer waiting.....
Mind you, the lcd reads...

This is their 350w kit, but don't buy through eBay as it is £50 cheaper direct.
From what I gather the 350W is the smaller geared unit (it looks neat on my bike - I'll post some pics soon) and the 500w is larger/heavier direct drive. On a light bike like yours I'd be inclined to go for a smaller compact drive.
I'm getting a no load speed (wheel in the air) of 43 mph from...
The EBC kit speed can be set at the LCD. I've fitted the rear wheel 350W kit with the SWX02 to my 26" Marin Muirwoods without too many problems. The wheel came with 7 gears instead of the standard 8. My drop-out distance on the bike was 135mm and I had to put spacers inside the drop-out to take...
Mmm. This isn't going to be as quick as I thought!
I removed the LH crank to fit the pedelec sensor and found the bottom bracket held in with internal splines. I thought these were metal until I tapped one with a screwdriver and hammer. Oops, plastic and minus a spline! I also realised that this...
I switched on the battery last night and didn't get any leds light up? I put it on charge for 4.5 hours and got all green leds apart from one red. Another hour charge didn't change this .
Does this sound normal? I suppose I could measure the voltage .
