    Hi Tom, I'm in Norway too, Halden actually. I bought a Cannondale with E6000 this summer and I don't find it overly noisy though it is of course audible, so I agree with the comments above about warranty. If you're in the area you can give it a try :)

    Crunching sensation

    There isn't slack - it's under tension. Depending where you are you could have dirt or wear. Recently I bought a new bike in North Holland and I had a crunchy feeling within a few days. That area is exposed to wind and has very sandy soil. It was better after a lube. Most likely in your case...
