    Battery & charger advice please?

Yes. the BMS controls what goes in to the battery, but the charger also has it's set limits. Apparently, the charger can cut the charge short if the current demanded by the BMS to balance is lower than the charger current cut-off set-point (during the CV phase). It's not unknown for the poti...

    Battery & charger advice please?

A bit more follow up information - After some investigation in to the manufacturer of the charger, I found out it is made by "YEWY", mine is the model "UY360". I also found a direct contact e-mail address and asked which potentiometers control which functions. To my surprise, I received a...

    Battery & charger advice please?

Will do. I'm down to 66V just from the ride in to work so should be closer to 61/62V by the time I get home up a few BIG hills!

    Battery & charger advice please?

I left the battery overnight and it was still balancing this morning. Disconnected the charger and battery was holding 70.0V solid, haven't seen 70 on the display for a good while! Rode to work again today so battery will get another charge before the weekend. Hopefully it'll pick up a bit with...

    Battery & charger advice please?

Things seem to be heading in the right direction. Battery is now balancing and sitting at 69.9V, up from 69.2V previously. Probably needs a few charge cycles to get back to full charge.

    Battery & charger advice please?

Sorry, probably wasn't particularly clear. Bike is on charge now, fingers crossed.

    Battery & charger advice please?

I haven't been purposely under charging at all Neal. I guess I'll find out if it's balancing now the charger is adjusted back to the correct voltage.

    Battery & charger advice please?

OK, challenge #1. No voltage at charger plug when not connected to battery. My guess is the 3rd pin needs some sort of signal to start the charge? Any ideas? EDIT: Scratch that, multimeter cable was loose. Got 70.6Volts!

    Battery & charger advice please?

Yes, I was surprised to see minimum volts for Li ion cells listed as low as 2.7V/cell in several places.

    Battery & charger advice please?

I haven't even measured anything yet with my meter, the voltage readings I've mentioned above are all from the KT3LCD display. I have no reason to doubt my meter but fortunately I do have regulated benchtop power supplies and calibrated meters in work, so I can try that out tomorrow. I measured...

    Battery & charger advice please?

OK so wise to go full 4.2V/cell to enable the BMS to balance. Of course, I am used to LiPo chargers that do the balancing. I'll check the charger voltage this evening, if it's drifted low, I'll tweak it back up. If that doesn't work then I'll investigate lowering the cut-off current which will...

    Battery & charger advice please?

I do. Left it overnight last night and still it wouldn't come up to the full 71.4V so it would appear that either the cut-off voltage is too low or cut-off current too high. Having said that, there's lots of posts suggesting not to charge to 4.2V/cell for longer battery life, instead only...

    Battery & charger advice please?

The challenge now is to find out which of the blue pots adjust CC, CV and current cut-off in my charger. General concensus from other forums is that the max volts poti is the one on it's own near the edge of the board (bottom right). I may have to make a breakout cable to measure charging...

    Battery & charger advice please?

That's interesting info, thanks. I only intend to tweak the charge cut-off voltage if it has drifted below 71.4 V (to be measured). I have read this can happen on some Luna Cycle chargers in this thread...
