    Cute q70 v akm74mm and TBK74mm?

Looking on Alibaba I see topbike kit selling both AKM and TBK 74mm 328rpm motors. I would be keen to know if these are identical or if the more expensive AKM is in some way better. I notice a photo of the TBK motor shows 8.2 reduction ratio, whilst the AKM specification suggests 12.6 ratio? Both...

Any place for a replacement Volt Pulse battery?

I know this is an old thread but posting to relate my experience recently. I have just bought and received a third party battery through alibaba.com for my Volt Pulse (2017 model). The listing was for ‘Shipping Free Slim Long Silver Fish Style 36v 16ah Electric Bike 18650 Aluminium Case...

    Throttle function on Volt Pulse.

Yes, that’s how I ever used it: when trying to restart on a steep hill. I’ve just had a reply from the manufacturer. They agree it’s not legal and suggest the bike must have been tampered with by the previous owner or other third party. They suggest returning it to the retailer. Unfortunately I...

    Throttle function on Volt Pulse.

Thanks Nealh for your reply. I ‘ll email Volt themselves, with the frame number, to see what they say.

    Throttle function on Volt Pulse.

HI All. I bought my first ebike.a second hand Volt Pulse, in late 2020. It came with all the paperwork including the original till receipts and a card indicating the frame number. Although it's a heavy old thing with a badly sagging battery, I still use it occasionally for short trips. I have...

Charging with a cc/cv bench supply

I agree. I’ve still got the original Volt (ST) charger unchanged. I’ve no idea what the state of balance of my cells is at the moment. To be honest I see this bike and battery, only as a interim measure. At the moment, this whole ebike thing is mainly a fascinating hobby, but I am hoping to...

Charging with a cc/cv bench supply

Well, I have just bought my first Sans 42v 3A charger. After battling to turn the ghastly little self-tappers and remove them( they won’t be going back in) I have just tweaked it down from it’s original 41.9-42v to 41.3 for now. Totally arbitrary. My voltages are measured with two Fluke dvms...

Charging with a cc/cv bench supply

I agree Nealh. I’ve read your post about that mod. I love that sort of thing. It looks like the way to go.

Charging with a cc/cv bench supply

I don’t know that I do. Just clarifying. I’ve just noticed the thread about tweaking the Sans charger for a partial charge. That looks interesting, and much cheaper than the Luna charger.

Charging with a cc/cv bench supply

I’m thinking of buying a Tenma 72-2550 bench supply in order to do partial charging of my 10s 41.8v Volt Pulse battery..I would still use the Volt charger for cell balancing from time to time. I understand this would be okay but do I need a cut-off timer between the supply and the battery? I...

    Adding thumb throttle...problem

Have you tried using the throttle whilst the bike is being pedalled? I just thought that maybe the controller is programmed to be 'europe' compliant requiring the bike to be pedalled to enable the throttle?

Angle drilled or standard drilled Brompton rim for Front motor?

Thank Thanks d8veh for that. Obviously the sort of wisdom that only experience can teach! I suppose the simplest for a novice (like me) could be radial pattern in an a single wall Brompton rim. I'm thinking here of my fat fingers trying to insert the nipples through the two rim walls!

Angle drilled or standard drilled Brompton rim for Front motor?

Trex: I really want the challenge of building a wheel myself, that's all. Last time I bought a kit from Greenbikekit the wheel build was quite out of true as delivered and took a while to true up. I think I might have answered my own question here as I've just been studying the info on the Grin...

Angle drilled or standard drilled Brompton rim for Front motor?

Hello everyone. As a novice to the ebike scene, I'm planning my Brompton electric conversion. I' m either going to use a Keyde 80mm 250rpm motor that I have bought on ebay or buy an Outrider 80mm 260rpm from China. I'm leaning towards 260rpm and not 290rpm because I' m quite heavy at 200lbs and...

Hi to Everyone from sunny Essex.

Hello. I've been interested in the technical side of electric bikes for a while but only have limited practical involvement, having added a Bafang front motor to my elderly mum's 20" wheel Mission trike. I'm now considering doing a 'Nano type ' conversion to my Brommie. I have been a 'guest' on...
