That’s not true though is it Dan.

Spain said categorically they would veto them. At best Scotland would have had to wait at least 12 years to become full members.

So wrong on that one there old bean.
I have no reference to a quotation that at the time of the Scottish Referendum, that Spain would VETO any application by Scotland.. indeed the BBC website in November 2013, indicated that the Spanish PM was insisting that Scotland would have to be independent before the decision to be admit it could be entertained. .. Again a very proper course of action.
But since a withdrawal agreement from the UK would take time to be actioned, the same time could be used for preparing the accession of the new or continuing member state. That is very far from and the very antithesis of a VETO.
So no .. , and even more pertinent, current reports regarding Spain and reported in current newspapers,
I await a correction.

20 Nov 2018 Spain would not oppose future independent Scotland rejoining EU - minister

"....one of the potential stumbling blocks for Scotland to rejoin the European Union was perceived to be the potential veto of EU member Spain, because of worries about its own secessionists in northeastern region Catalonia.

Spain’s government, then headed by Conservatives, has changed since 2014 and is now headed by Socialist Pedro Sanchez."

What’s that got to do with the price of deep fried Mars Bars?

Dan said no nation in the EU 27 would have. Key word have. Vetoed Scotland during their referendum.

He was wrong. I corrected him.

If I hadn’t then it completely changes the narrative. Dan is probably the cleverest man I’ve ever known. But even he wouldn’t want a mistruth to get through.

I’m not saying he was lying like I would accuse others on here. He was merely wrong.

I’m sure he will be happy to admit this.

BJ - lacklustre in his bluster and still not a clue - probably tranqualised by his minders before being let loose on stage.

Gove - so full of air about himself and his previous roles he's like a cheap supermarket white loaf - no substance.

Javid - blended into background only noticed him by his 'man spreading' pose

Chunt - was the background apart from his slightly Cheshire cat mad eyes - looks stressed.

Stewart - Seems most grounded and realistic of the bunch - confronted Boris effectively who seemed unable to form a coherent strand in reply.

Boris didn't do very well did he? he gave a wooden performance , in fact the whole lot of them are no better.
are these really the top men of the Conservative party?

Poor Boris he was he least impressive of a poor lot. Boris said people had taken his words and escalated them where he had made gaffes, and skirted round the fact that he botched the job as Foreign secretary and got that poor woman into a worse situation re her sentence.
Rory made the most sense about taxation, but so what?
And Boris evaded a question about Heathrow and claimed the London London Exclusion Zone was his?
While great entertainment it won't make any difference to the fact that Boris will get the job.
And the last question "You will get the job without being elected" hit Boris between the eyes as it was pointed out to him he had said the same thing about Gordon Brown.
"This is different" he declared "We have an emergency now!"
Yes, indeed we do Boris, and who was the main culprit in bringing it about?

What a sorry shower! Leave Voters deserve them.

OG - you may not like the messenger - but his facts are correct.
No they are not
His so called facts are a statement he made not me
This was my response and it is correct.
"I did not say
"the guidelines had been agreed. What guidelines?
You did!
You really must stop lying"

And you OJ need to check whether Fingers is lying again before supporting him

Boris. Just sat there waiting for the crown.

****. Started lively but soon realised this was a farce.

Gove. Still thinks he has a chance. Couldn’t answer a question without saying how great he was or that he has been unloved since birth. That’s probably why.

Javid. Will feel he has won a victory but will never see high office again. He now has the touch of the Warsis over him.

Rory. Like a stray pube on Willem Defoe’s ball sac. Couldn’t sit still and just annoyed everyone.

Maitliss. Couldn’t herd cats despite her acting like having dozens at home.

Pathetic that you still stick to another outdated reference, the situation has changed but then we know you are unable to face the truth

No you silly old man.

Dan was talking about the referendum.

You are thicker than mince.

This article is more than 5 years old ;-)
That it is 5 years old is not at issue, because I was referring to the Scottish Referendum. But it would deserve READING the article closely At no point does the Spanish Government use the word VETO, ..that is the comment by the Guardian Reporter.
Both this and the BBC website item of November 2013,are internally consistent, and consistent with my previous assertion. .. No EU Country had Vetoed an early admission of an independent Scotland into the EU.
What I actually wrote, and still stand behind is ....
"Now At the time ,I believed that the Westminster position was wrong..and the only thing stopping their immediate accession would have been a veto from what would have been an England+ NI . The other 27 countries would have had no problems in fast tracking their application. "

Talk about reaching.

Why can none of you stubborn old fools ever admit you’re wrong? I guess it must be an age thing. Although looking at all your responses and actions I’d say it’s a specific failed character trait. Others can do it.

I have shown you up as an utter fool on here before Dan. I get very little pleasure from it. Remember your whole nonsense about journalists and their sources? And how you left the forum for a couple of weeks due to the shame of being made to look an utter fool?

You think I get pleasure from burying someone so easy? Christ I don’t even use my golden shovel. You dig your own holes.

Tragic really.

Still. You’re right. In your mind.

That’s what counts eh.

Indeed. But even if ready I would still have preferred them to have their own EU like bloc. That would have kept the EU smaller and more manageable and a partially Slav buffer between Russia and the EU would have been valuable defensively and probably diplomatically too.
.
Demographically, we like germany need a constant influx of young workers as well as consumers and custom free access to new growing markets. East european countries provide all that. And the conditions the eu insist for joining created a road map towards greater democracy and rule of law for them. Quite apart from the fact that i really fancy my local polish barista, im afraid i disagree.

This is interesting. Earlier i thought your struggle is probably more with emotional dysregulation than personality disorder. But this kind of acting out suggest the opposite. Still, with you around its hard to ever feel embarassed about anything one posts, which must be a good thing.

Absolutely.

Write any old ball ocks. And when it’s proven to be incorrect or lies just gang up on the truthsayer.

You should be grateful to have someone like me around. A benevolent leader. A superior being who deigns to answer your lies and insults.

Was it not Gabriel who when asked, what is the worst thing about being banished from heaven, he said. God doesn’t talk to me anymore.

Be careful what you wish for Tom.
