It's simply to make it appear that any impending disaster will be Biden's fault and not that of our politicians. That's why they ask for the extension, knowing they cannot get one.
.
There must be some way they can blame the EU, surely?

They won't if we continue to hang onto and freeze Afghanistan's billions, the money they need to run the country.

Our Western politicians are trying to create a new war there now. By depriving the Taliban of the means to run the country, prompting their opposition, the Northern Alliance, to use the resulting civil disattisfaction to overcome the Taliban by fighting them. The fact that this policy will cause immense suffering and yet more deaths of the ordinary Afghans who are neither Taliban nor Northern Alliance doesn't matter to our contemptible politicians.

So which side is really the evil one?

They make good sense. Do we tip the waiter when he takes our order, or after eating it?
.
Irrelevant fact but....
A tip was historically paid before the service. It's a modern acronym for "To Incur Promptness". It's still given first in many places such as shows in Las Vegas for example where the person showing you to your table is "Tipped" to get a better position rather than tipping afterwards based on where they decide to stick you.

That's yesterday's policy.

With Brexit over and no hugely advantageous trade deal with the USA, nor likely to be one, we really need to keep on good relations with the EU now.

Just watch us gradually get more and more re-involved with the EU as we strive to be included in ongoing EU policy. We are already following a policy of maintaining regulatory conformity to aid continuing trade.

In ten years time it will be difficult to see any remaining evidence of Brexit and Sovereignty.

Don't know why West think they can interfere so much. Well, it's proven time and time again they can't.

It's continuation of the Cold War policy, the fear of the West and particularly the USA that they might lose their dominance in the world,

If they had any sense they'd realise that loss is inevitable, indeed its arguable that it's already happened since so much of the West is utterly reliant on Oriental and particularly Chinese production.

Xi Jinping has made his intention very clear, for China to become the World's leading power and the world to become communist in the Chinese model, i.e. one party governance but with capitalist economies enabling individual aspiration. Since China and Russia are now an alliance with China repopulating Eastern Russia with Putin's blessing, they are an immense combined force to be reckoned with and I don't see anyone able to stop them, now NATO is little more than an increasingly weakening alliance.

Agreed. Rather a bleak outlook tho. Only a matter of time before China makes moves on Taiwan which could trigger rather frightening consequences.

Are you sure. I can think of at least one. (so I, ve been told)
Restaurant service charges are a percentage of the bill so impossible to apply before the meal has been completed with all courses requested.

So another delay in changing from CE to UKCA.
Another year.

And I can’t see many other countries bothering with it.
They will not. The UK CA mark is a dead duck. Any Asian economy will be looking at UL or CE.for imports Europe will be looking at CE. In a market of 7000 Million, the production capacity of 66 Million really does not scale.

Pretty sad that one of the most viewed items on BBC news today is/was the milkshake shortage at MacD's.

Not as if nothing else is happening - whether Paralympic athletes being struck down with Covid, Afghanistan, Scottish public inquiry in Covid, or a hundred other issues.

The principle priorities of the consumer society, fast food and entertainment.

Once those are satisfied any time left over can be spared for such issues, so long as any one item on one of them is less than a minute long to avoid getting bored.

.
Which is confusing two issues - service charges are not tips, and vice versa. Though often the distinctions are not properly considered.
