Hi, mine is an oxygen MTB-X and I had the electric motor renewed 2 years ago for which I had to pay for the full wheel assembly, just now I have got a code 30 and I am thinking here we go again, another £250, my handbook does not give details of the codes, could you please tell me what the code 30 is and how it could be repaired at minimal cost, I live in guisborough Teesside and need a repairer in my locality, thanks for listening.

Error code 30 comes when the LCD can't communicate with the motor controller. That can be as simple as a corroded connector, so check that first, or it could be that the controller is completely dead.

The communication system is powered by a 5v regulator in the controller, which also powers the throttle, motor hall sensors, brake switches and controller cpu, so a fault anywhere on that 5v line can take the rest out and give error 30.

You have the motor controller in the battery base. It's potted and has sealed connectors, so it's really tricky to check anything without matching connectors.

If all else fails and your motor is OK, this kit is a direct replacement for all your electrics. If you go for it, open it and make sure that the battery connections are the right way round for your battery. they should be the same, but it's not guaranteed. if they're wrong, you have to unsolder them and swap them over. You have to take of your crank and BB to fit the new pedal sensor, replace the throttle and LCd and sort out the cable routing.

Your bike was a joint venture between Battribike and Oxygen. There is an identical version with Battribike branding, so a Battribike dealer should also be able to help. In fact it was mainly a Battribike deal, but they needed to order a higher quantity to get the price down, and hence roped in Oxygen.

I wish I had your skill, gives me a little solace knowing it could be a simple fix, I will initially check connections, then see the dreaded specialist if all else fails, don't suppose you live near to guisborough!!
