Hi, I bought a used Jorvik jet e, it came with no charger or keys. The battery is leaking and 3 yrs old, trike won't climb hills so thinking the battery nenes replacing.

I can't afford jorviks prices, and looking at compatibles, Varstrom look ok and good price, but looking at juries battery bar on lineI think the controller is in the bar. Do the compatibles come with a controller that will work with the Jorvik? Varstrom state it must be XT60 but I can't find any info on Jorvik specs.

Can anyone advise?
Thanks.

What's it look like? There are thousands of different 36v batteries. It can't be Samsung LG. They're two different brands. And they're the cells in the battery, the same as any battery.
Jorvik quote Samsung LG as do may other companies, maybe they are different parts of the battery.
I can't get it off yet as don't have the keys so I don't know what the inner workings and connections look like. but outside is this. 639786397963980

One of my solar trailer batteries has exactly the same case, and it is a cheap generic Chinese thing.

So I would guess your trike is a generic, simple two wire system, in which case in the worst case any generic battery with the matching base they are supplied with can be substituted. You just need to mount the base and connect the big wires. Otherwise careful research may find a matching generic battery that just slots in.

The Samsung reference means the cells within the battery, and they are decent quality. Performance up hills and heavily laden will suffer with either poorer quality cells or a smaller battery.

With care you can probably destroy the lock with a big screwdriver to get started.

Thanks,

Do you mean the cheaper batteries may struggle uphill or loads? Barry has power but no charger and is leaking soI just need to remove it. plucking up the courage to take it with a screwdriver and hammer. iso I just put the screwdriver in the lock and hit it as hard as I can? or is the a subtle skill to it?

Looks like a TigerShark DS6 case.
One expects Jorvik may mean the battery are either Samsung or LG celled cases, as mentioned there won't be differing branded cells mixed in the case .

Does it measure and look like the below drawing ?
If so then they should be a generic battery unless Jorvik has had them messed with.

Yes, quality cells can provide higher current and so higher power with less voltage sag. But the larger the battery (capacity in Ah) the smaller the problem. If your riding is likely to be relatively flat not too much to worry about, but decent batteries are not that expensive these days. Don't buy anything super cheap.

Maybe get the battery off, look at how hard/easy swapping the mounting would be, measure accurately width and length available to mount, and report back.

Go gently with the screwdriver, you only need to disrupt the fairly low grade lock, not smash anything to pieces! Knock it in and try and turn it.

In a previous thread the use of jigglier keys were suggested to remove a battery. I’ve never tried this myself but thought it may be useful. Jigglier keys can be bought from eBay.

I've used them several times to unlock batteries. You need to figure out how they work in order to have success. The first one gave up easily. The second one wouldn't open because I wasn't doing it right until I figured it out. The third one took a lot more jiggling than the first, but was fairly easily defeated.

I don't want to spend any money I don't have to, if I buy these there no guarantee I will be Abel to get it unlocked. I just need to get it off the bike, I don't have a charger for it and don't know if it is worth keeping.
