Guys, power stopped whilst riding along and a new symbol appeared on the screen of the KT-LCD8S. Can anyone shed some light as to what this is telling me? I will take the battery apart anyhow to have a look around, but hopefully this symbol will give me a clue...The battery is 48V.

I think that's the brake symbol that usually activated by switches on the brake levers. Check out that the levers are returning normally. If necessary, you can temporary disconnect the brake lever electrical cables from the controller cable to check. They are an extra safety feature that cuts the motor immediately when you pull the brake but the bike will go and hopefully stop without them.

That's interesting Sturmey...but I don't have brake switches wired in on my eBike. I wonder then, is the symbol appearing to let me know its cut the power for another reason...eg. a failed/bad BMS?

The controller's cpu monitors the 5v on the brake signal wire. The default is on, as that wire is held at 5v by a pull-up resistor. When the CPU sees 0v on that wire, it sends the code for that symbol to the LCD's CPU, which puts it on the display. That 5v brake signal wire would only be 0v if it's shorted to ground, either by a brake switch or a short in the cable attached to the controller, so that's where you need to look.

Screen looks wet. That might suggest water ingress somewhere has shorted the brake cut circuit.
