KT controllers - KT-LCD6 now displays cadence

Cheers AK - I placed an order with BMSb for an S06SC anyway, so have also ordered the new display. I'll let you know my thoughts. (The S12S is great for using with the GSM crank drive since I modified the output current, except that the speed cut-off is relative to the motor speed, not the...

    KT LCD 3 throttle settings

djah - the manual contains P and C parameter settings. Depending on which version of the controller you have, some of the C settings may not be present. Worth a search online if you have a unit that includes C13/C14 settings - mine doesn't.

KT controllers - KT-LCD6 now displays cadence

Hi all, I was looking for a replacement display for my trusty KT-LCD3 (also labelled by BMS Battery as an S-LCD3) as the control button casing has split, and the display is a little wide for the current location. I noticed that the new generation includes LCD6 - which is in a portrait...

LED light strips - wire in parallel, not series

Hi all, I made an interesting discovery over the weekend. I'm using multiple LED strips on my velomobile build (white at the front, red at the rear, amber for indicators) and was getting all sorts of strange problems (some not working, some being dimmer than usual). The strips I used are...

Combined indicators & hazards - from single flash relay

Hi all, I'm slowly working away on a velomobile (based on an Alligt Alleweder A4 for those who are interested) and am adding lights. I have indicators working well (as when the tonneau cover is on there is little space for indicating with your arms), and wanted to use the same flash relay to...

Brake sensor (3 wire, Hall?) - operating the wrong way round

Thanks very much for the clear help, and for suggesting sources. Much appreciated Phil

Brake sensor (3 wire, Hall?) - operating the wrong way round

I get 3.2V when magnet is far away, 0 when close (blue to black). Red is definitely 5V. The magnet end has red, blue and black wires. Can anyone confirm which is signal and which is GND? Also is it a hall sensor or reed switch? If it was a red switch I could just connect to 2 wires...

Thanks Woosh - I'll check when home from work.

Combined light switches for motorbikes - internal wiring issues

Hi all, I spent 2 fruitless days trying to trace faults with my indicator circuit. Cutting a long story short, the fault was eventually traced to the internal wiring of the switch I was using - some of the internal cables had their insulation cut back too far, and when the housing was pressed...

Brake sensor (3 wire, Hall?) - operating the wrong way round

GSM being used with S12S controller with current decreased to ~13A, and the KT LCD3 display.

Brake sensor (3 wire, Hall?) - operating the wrong way round

Hi all, I've got another naive question for the collective wisdom on this board. I have extended a brake sensor cable (fitting into a recumbent velomobile, and the cable run was too long without extending). All seems good, except that the brake sensor only cuts the motor out (showing a brake...

    GSM / S12S / LCD3 / 36V - error code 03-INFO

Thanks again to all who contributed. The moral of the story is to try all the options, even the ones that aren't documented in the manual!

    GSM / S12S / LCD3 / 36V - error code 03-INFO

Hi all Thanks to d8veh for the pointer. I found a newer version of the manual for the KT-LCD3, and tried all the settings for C1 thus had. Settings 5, 6 & 7 all work, with 6 being the best. According to the newer manual, this therefore means that the PAS gives 'reverse' pulses. So I now have...

    GSM / S12S / LCD3 / 36V - error code 03-INFO

Hi d8veh. I've got an older version of the controller (S12S) & LCD3 which only has options up to C12 (I think newer versions go up to C14). In the version of the manual that I have, it states the following values for C1 00 - 5 magnet sensor 01 - 8 magnet sensor 02 - 10 magnet sensor 03 - 12...

    GSM / S12S / LCD3 / 36V - error code 03-INFO

Hi all, Thanks for all the help. It sounds like I'll have to use the external PAS then - not to worry. Just to clarify, I have not been able to get GSM internal PAS to work at all with my controller (using all values of C1 from 5 magnet up to 12 magnet). I was able to use an external PAS...

    GSM / S12S / LCD3 / 36V - error code 03-INFO

Wiring is as you say, with 4th wire being unused and insulated. Cranks backwards does not work either - pedalling forward or backwards fails to initiate PAS using internal sensor.

    GSM / S12S / LCD3 / 36V - error code 03-INFO

PAS mode works with an external sensor - or at least the motor comes on when twiddling the PAS magnet ring around in front of the sensor. I'm confused - it was also pulsing on the same signal line, exactly the same as the internal PAS. Are there any other diagnostic ideas that might be worth...

Cool tip - I was just about to take crank arms off and make a mess - you must have done this before!
