My latest and most difficult conversion Trek Top Fuel 9.9 Carbon.

Nice report - which gear sensor did you use? Does it just go between the cable and outer?

    My weight is 100 kilos

Just another one who is a similar weight, and also only had issues when spokes were loose. This was my fault - when I got somebody good to rebuild the wheel and to use spokes that can take a higher tension (thinner) I got a much more solid wheel that has given me no problems for the last 700 miles.

De-tune a Bafang CST 500w or possible swap?

Not quite what you asked, as I've only ever run it with an S12P or an S12S controller, but I have run that motor with a much lower current (removed solder from the shunt) and also used the controller in 'torque control' which just limits the current. Worked fine. However, I ended up increasing...

    Hard to fit tyres.

Spa cycles do a good video of a chap fitting a Marathon Plus without levers. Works too - I've managed a few times.

Carrera Subway 1 conversion 500w bafang which battery

As somebody else who is 6'4 I would concentrate on finding a frame that is comfortable. Adding the kit takes time but is easier than making a smaller frame comfortable!

Which motor/kit to get? Bafang CST or Xiongda? 36V or 48V?

I got the CST from bms battery. Running with a 20 Ah, 36V battery, the S12S controller and LCD3 display. Works very well. Is a bit heavy. I usually run the controller in speed control mode at mode 4 which gives assist up to about 20 mph which is my usual comfortable peddling speed. Mode 5 gives...

    Punctures............

Marathon pluses for me. I have the tour version with some tread, but wouldn't fancy doing serious off road work with it. They do a mountain bike version with knobblies which might be worth checking. I'm at 780 miles without a puncture so far...

In-line brake sensors - how to stop them moving?

Hmm. Didn't think of that. Will try next time I replace the brake cable. Thanks d8veh. In the meantime I'll tie it to the rack.

In-line brake sensors - how to stop them moving?

Thanks Mike. D8veh, you are correct but unfortunately the rear brake hanger did not have enough clearance for the sensor, so I had to mount the other side. http://surlybikes.com/parts/small_parts/cable_hanger

In-line brake sensors - how to stop them moving?

In the rather poor photos the sensor tends to slip down the brake cable. I want it to stay against the cable hanger.

In-line brake sensors - how to stop them moving?

Hi all, My commute includes some pretty poor roads so lots of bumping up and down. Sometimes the brake sensors move and cause the controller to cut out. Currently I've been using cable ties but these tend to move after a while. Any other ideas? Thanks Phil

Bullet connectors for motor phase wires

Hi all, After many happy miles I've had some issues which I eventually (by the side of the road in the rain) managed to trace to the bullet connectors giving up. What have others done? Change to other connectors or just cut off the connectors, solder and heat shrink? Is it ok to do the same...

    eZee e-Rex Fatboy Prototype

Looks good. If it had a rear hub motor it could be a very durable, go anywhere commuter.

Thanks d8veh. Much appreciated. I shall stop panicking!
