Depending on how technically adept and up for a "project" you are may drive you down the ready-built path. If you are more time-starved than money starved you may need to increase the budget.
I'm in the process of building up an 8Fun/Bafang CST 500W kit which will be great when finished, but is...
Fair comment. It was the tube that blew. Pinch flat I'm guessing. The sidewalls are rather stiff, and I've been a bit optimistic with squeezing the largest tyre I can in the space all contributing to a loud bang on the stand shortly after inflating the tube!
Excellent. I'm glad as P1 seems to be guess work, so I'm glad it's not needed if you have a speed sensor. I got roughly 27 mph reported on the stand from the 36V battery (700c wheel).
Now to get brake and PAS sensors fitted then onto the wiring of lights. Great fun.
Thanks again - the combination of a spacer and having the sensor facing towards the wheel instead of the frame (!) now mean I have speed reported on the LCD-3.
Now does anyone know what P1 value to use for the CST 500 at 36V?
Hi all
Random question for you. I have a speed sensor to fit to an S12S controller.
How close to the magnet does the sensor need to be? I'd like to fit to the rear to reduce cable runs to the front, but there is a fair distance between the rear stays and the wheel.
So I guess the real...
Thanks all. I'll do some experiments once it is all built up - was going great until the inner tube in the rear wheel blew. Now I rather regret getting big marathon plus tyres that only just fit in under the mudguards!
Hi all
I've got my parts from BMS battery and have started building up.
I have an s12s and a 20 Ah battery that both just fit in a trunk bag side by side or controller underneath and battery on top.
Should I be worried about heat?
The other option is that I could put the controller in a side...
Thanks d8veh,
It turned out that my order was still not dispatched due to controllers being out of stock, so I took the opportunity to add a 2nd charger, and also add the new LCD panel to allow display of motor power.
Thanks for the advice
Phil
Hi Paul. Will do. I haven't yet received the kit from BMS Battery - the controllers were out of stock.
Will post on here when it is built up. Actually I'm more than likely to be continually posting on here asking for help when I mess it up!
For my money being able to use cassette gears to easily match the required gearing is a major plus of the CST.
Having put my money where my mouth is I have ordered one, but am going 36V not 48 so that the motor doesn't get too warm with all the hills around here.
Best of luck with all the...
Hi all
I thought that I was being smart and forums some flashing 12V lights.
Unfortunately the flash is more of a fast strobe for 1s then off for 2s rather than a gentle flash.
I opened up the control box and wondered if it might be possible to bypass the strobe but still turn on and off...
Hi all,
I've been rather dumb and forgot to order a 2nd charger to leave at work when I placed my order with BMSbattery.
Is there a better alternative source to getting a 36V charger that will work out cheaper for shipping costs?
Battery I have is the 20Ah 36V shrink-wrapped Li-ion as in this...
Hi all,
I've had an order with BMS battery for a while; I finally found out that the delay was due to S12S controllers being out of stock. I've therefore asked them to send on the rest of the order including the S12P.
Apart from the power output being different between the 2 controllers (easily...
