any problems with Bosch centre drive

I am wondering if any members have any knowledge of problems occurring with the Bosch drive....other than the myth of chewing its own sprockets and internal gearing that is I just have had a quote from Germany for a 2013 KTM machina, delivered to front door for the equivalent of £2k exactly...

    Initial thoughts on Ave XH-3

( and that pulling power is multiplied by lower gears......quote) but surely, Flecc, with 250+watts of extra turning power available to the legs, there is little need to use lower gears? with that much non EPO available, one would already feel pretty bullet proof on even the biggest...

    Initial thoughts on Ave XH-3

thanks Flecc... I didn't realise that the figure of 250 watts was 'nominal', as it were, and on the basis of that, one wonders just how much power the 350 watt Pro Connect BS 10s are turning out... ...but if BS 10s dont chew their own insides, then basic 250 watt Boschs should be fail-safe not...

    Initial thoughts on Ave XH-3

I have given up waiting for a trial of an XH3 from my LBS, and got my £50 back this week.... ...maybe the 50 cm machine that ebco were going to send down to London, ended up in Halfer's sticky fingers...although I would really want a 45 cm spoke to Ebco direct, and there was a shipment expected...

Riding unpowered...do you still get a kick from it?

very much so, especially on an old 27X1/4" Mercian touring bike.... used it yesterday for a couple of laps of Regents Park, and was constantly passed by the triathlon training brigade, which made me lust for a Kalkoff BS10... but the bike felt great

What bike test-drive policies do you have?

James at justebikes, let me take out Haibike for 15 mins or so, with a requirement that I have ID and leave a credit card imprint..........in the light of the present broo-ha-ha, pretty reasonable Chamberlaines, a Nth London AVE/Ebco stockist, have taken a £50 deposit to order a XH3 to try on...

    for e-bikers with flat batteries

. you folks are not recognising the skill involved in balancing yourself on a stationary bike....all though, obviously the bike is not stationary, as it is in movement the whole time... reliable balance requires movement, which require freedom in the knees, hip joints, ankles, and the balance...

    2012 Kalkhoff Sahel Compact Nexus

I saw the AVE XH3 at the Blenheim Brompton day too Jonah, but was also too 'into' Bromptons to pay a lot of attention to the AVE stand...there was an opportunity to cycle the whole 7 miles around the Palace, with plenty of hills to cope with, plus LOTS of Bromptons to pass, and I just pedaled...

Tonaro and Momentum reviews in new A to B issue 92

Have to disagree with you folks, as I think his reviews are seemingly well considered.....as for derailleurs, well he does say that they work well with a 'good' crank drive system, but that he is not that hot on the pedal movement sensor as fitted to the Eagle.... ...in his conclusion, he does...

    AVE XH 3...any thoughts??

finally had a decent ride on a Haibike Xduro RC, provided by just e-bikes aat there new Portobello road showroom... ....'twas only a short run, but enough to confirm that the 'middle-motor' layout is a great improvement over a front hub drive and rear battery position.... having cycled down...

    2013 BH E-motion Neos

d8ve always seems to hit the nail on the head, and always seems to say things that you don't really want to hear...sorry mate basically a bike is a bike, and whether it is a set of holiday rental wheels, or one of my 2 Bromptons, or my Mercian 27X 1.1/4 tourer, or my Specialised Rockhopper...

    2013 BH E-motion Neos

I too have been looking at the AVE XH3 with a possibility of a purchase....after saving £20 a month for 10 years with one of those supposed quality "friendly" (ha-ha) societies), I have ended up with £2400 in my hot little hand... ...having done the maths, I now realise what a catastrophic...

£2500 to spend - what would you choose?

interesting responses from d8v and flecc.... without doubt, having the ability to put together an electric kit would be very rewarding, and although I am happy poking around a bottom bracket, or replacing hub bearings, I have never made much of a fist of electrics... flecc's website of all...

£2500 to spend - what would you choose?

what to buy for £2.5 K is really a very slippery slope the AVE XH 3 must be a bargain in world of Bosch equipped bikes, at "just" £1799 ...its amazing that all this talk of £1000++ bikes slowly brings one around to the feeling that "savings" maybe could be spent on something that is this...
