    £20 Ebike Battery

Great post as ever Jerry, Good to see some useful information. Least with the cylindrical cells and Lifepo4 chemistry Even if you run them low or overcharge them all they do is heat up and you have some saftey margin even if you abuse them a bit. Lipo isn't as kind. There alot better. I've...

Quick release rear wheel and C washers when fitting hub motor?

Simple answer is no. The rear drop outs are a different shape to most front fork drop outs.

If the chain is not long enough you can add links and use a couple of split pins to join them.

    Another Minimalist EMoulton Build

Looks fab anyway jerry really nice finished bikes. I would imagine it wouldn't feel to dis similar to just the bike without the electric kit. Least you have a smoother take off and hill climbing without issue.

Very slick build Jerry. If your only using 1.1amp batteries what c rating are they to be useable with the controller.

    Brompton electrification

Makes perfect sense. Alot of people do exactly the same on endless sphere with small wheel builds. Some actual large direct drive motors actuall just fit the rim in a solid layout like the folder motor company. There good spokes, even with my cack hand build they held up to a load of...

Tongxin or cute motors seem to be popular with the smaller wheeled folders and tend to be a very good match.

    Kit fitting problem

I think from memory when I fitted a front motor I missed out one washer so the order was it-motor/torque washer/fork/washer/locking ring/nut

    Brompton electrification

I think it will work well to be honest. The direct drive has the ability to be high rpm and the wheel size will be naturally torqey with a modest amount of current. I think it will be a good match. It will be robust anyway.

Great stuff Cwah and those involved in getting this far. I was going to text you yesterday to see how you was getting on. Glad it's coming along and your now much closer to completing your build. Just a few more pushes and you'll be cycling around and folding up the bike no problems.

    Kit fitting problem

The wheel probably needs a slight off set. However if you can get a picture of how you've fitted the motor in the forks and the order of washers and torque nuts would be useful just incase something is round the wrong way. The front wheel motors usually require no real wheel offset and they...

Are the EU making a big mistake in limiting e-bikes to 25 Kg?

Even if the 25kg was applied it would just drive manufactures to give us lighter models... But again it would be even harder to enforce.

Are the EU making a big mistake in limiting e-bikes to 25 Kg?

The 250w rating is ok becasue none of them make 250w anyway. The point is the 250w is a bit of a none entity and a very crude way of measuring the power. All the hubs / crank and electric motors naturally make more watts when load is applied. If you only had 250w to help you out on hills...

    My new build

They are currently quite good at the moment taking 2 weeks to get items to the UK. Many members have reported the motors being delivered quite quickly. It may be worth a punt on the cute motors since the Bafangs have all gone up in price.

I doubt the vibration has anything to do with the slight overvolt. Where is the temp probe placed? Generally the motors have a peak of 160c, how ever if its on the casing that is quite warm. If it still rotates and is smooth its probably something like the clutch if it is the motor. Or more...

    alcohol and electric bikes

I must admit i've had a few shandies on the run back from work. But if anything it limits what I drink becasue I know if I do drink any more than 2 then the 11 mile commute home will be quite taxing. However as others have said its defined as a bicycle so you'll just get the normal fines...

    My new build

Mine is also the newer EB3 series board. But more than likely the shunt is nearer the correct ohm rating. Although I am sure with heat and usage you'd never get it quite spot on. But if you know its a couple amp's out then you can self adjust and save yourself the hassle of putting nick's...

Bargain of the Year Torque Arms

I think the price is fair to be honest. I'd doubt you'd get torque arms anywhere else at the same price and even fabricating new ones at a local engineering firm would cost a bit more. So all round a bargin still I believe. Also if it helps Justin out over at ebikes.ca then that to is also...

    My new build

Hello again, Changed the controller settings last night. Changed it to the 7amp battery current and 30amp phase as these are the lowest settings. This actually gives me 9.2amp peak which is nearer to the actual factored in amount. Even with -56% less current I only dropped 1mph. Its also...

    My new build

I've noticed it's more accurate the higher the amp limit goes. That maybe due to the percentage gains. But anyway I kept the block time as low as possible and now changed the setting to the same 7amp to hopefully get around the 12amp that you have. Either way I'm pretty happy with it. The...
