Are the EU making a big mistake in limiting e-bikes to 25 Kg?

Maybe but when you factor in other forms of private transport its still cheap. Ok its not cheap compared to the OAP bus pass. Maybe get a petition togoether to get the oldies electric bikes ;-)

    My new build

NRG what settings did you use on the software to get the 12amp's I wouldn't mind adjusting mine to get to that level. It might be becasue i've set the phase amps a bit higher than I should really. With a solid 600w though you can pretty much climb most things at a decent cycle rate. Least...

    My new build

I don't think there will be much in it to be honest. Other than the gears being a bit strong and a little more robust. They should be able to take peaks of about 1000w as there limit. But they would probably burn up if you just pull that constantly use them at that wattage. I believe you...

    Todays - incident

I have to admit, that cycling has made me more of a passive motorist. Its actually taught me to understand that speed and overtaking is just not really worth it. You dont get to a destination any quicker. You only annoy yourself and you won't enjoy the travel. Plus there's more to look at...

    My new build

Its not a scatch on the bpm for climbing ability and raw power. But what it seems to lack in power it makes up for in silence and smoothness. Its actually better than my old front bafang I used to have about a year ago. Its quieter and the clutch appears to be better. But time will tell.

    My new build

First ride was this morning. I've set the controller on 12amp although its currently hitting 16amp on hills with 30 amp phase. So might need turning down a little. Really smooth and you can't hear it at that amperage. Well up to about 5mph but its super light and smooth. The free wheel...

Me, Lanzerote and a cheap mountain bike

Me, Lanzerote and a cheap mountain bike

All in all an enjoyable ride out and probably only covered 25 mile total but very good fun. I got through my 3 litres of water with the sun out and even managed to burn some of my forehead. (Hair seems to be receeding quicker these days). Happy chappy

Me, Lanzerote and a cheap mountain bike

Really enjoyed the trip up and the run around the hill on the trails was great. Even if the saddle was a bit to high to try anythnig to technical. The bike held up well and the large black jack tires worked and gripped well given the terrain. No punctures either. Quick Run down the hill to...

Me, Lanzerote and a cheap mountain bike

I took some quick video's once I reached the large hill in question. There was no way I could get the bike up it so I had to ditch it. I left the bike on the trails and headed up. It was hard to climb and took a bit of effort. It was more difficult on the way down though. Rough rubble made...

Me, Lanzerote and a cheap mountain bike

It must have been a good 5 mile trek on the mountain bike to the start of the trail where I came across a young Lady walking a bulldog would you believe. I happy little chap he was chasing me about untill she managed to grab him. It was amusing anyway. The terrain is rough large boulders...

Me, Lanzerote and a cheap mountain bike

    Electric Bike Stopped Working........ Help!!!!

If the LED's filkered and the battery reads 42v then there's a good chance there is a connection issue. There isn't much to fail in controllers and electric circuits that are run at the standard required wattage. The chances are there is something a drift in the connectors. Whether this be a...

    Todays - incident

That generally happens all to often when riding on the road. The old left hook. Its just bad driving all round and being inpatient. I think most people that ride on the road have had this happen more than once. Sometimes they do it and then have to stop shaply because of traffic. They...

Pedal senor kit to replace throttle?

To cheat it if you have a half throttle only. You can actually move the throttle up further to the half grip bit so it sticks in position to motor you along. If you have a full throttle you should be able to buy a pedelec sensor from one of the many UK suppliers here on this forum...

Are the EU making a big mistake in limiting e-bikes to 25 Kg?

I was under the impression that the following was generally applied... Road Legality: The law relating to this dates back to 1983, and covers what you can legally use on public roads in the UK. The limits are: 200W continuous power (250W for tricycles and tandems), 15mph maximum assisted...

Why did you or why will you buy an electric bike?

I brought a kit. I'm younger than most of the audience here but my reasons are also slightly different. I wanted to commute by bike when I moved to the city and car spaces are a premium. It was 9miles each way and I didn't think I could do it. It helped me get over that and it became...

How fast can you charge this type of battery?

In theory yes you can fast charge the battery. If its 5amp fast charge then it should allow up to a 0.5c charge rate. If the BMS as detaioled above actually lets it. But as long as the new charger is at the correct voltage and higher amperage it will work.
