See you've sold it! That's unexpected after all that work, hope you're not unwell. Not enough power?

How did it work out for you? I am trying to find a front derailleur for a 39/50 chainwheel and a 60mm chainline so your advice would be appreciated, thanks.

    Pedals slipping

Hi, The pedals slip occasionally on my Scirocco CDL, especially going uphill towards the start of a journey, so the bike stops unless I use the throttle. Can anyone tell me what the problem is? Thanks, Martin.

    on the beach

Just been to Northumberland and had a great seven mile ride along the beach. Nothing bad happened. Found the wet sand nearest the water was the best surface for riding on. The risk of salt water and sand damage are worth taking, there are no cars or lorries to worry about. We old farts need to...

    Taking e-Bike on plane

Ligo on the right lines but it seems that a battery which would satisfy an airline would be fairly useless on a bike. Found this elsewhere: "I must admit that I have answered “dry cell” when I am asked on numerous occasions about the type of battery in my mobility scooter at airports. I always...

    Taking e-Bike on plane

Good point. It is interesting though that lithium batteries are used in spacecraft. Also they are starting to take over in mobility scooters.

    Taking e-Bike on plane

Interestingly you can take a mobility scooter on a plane. Ryanair accept batteries up to 300 watts.

Wider tyres for grip and comfort

I came off the bike on a turn on tarmac with schwalbe marathons and changed to schwalbe marathon GT 365 tyres which seem better, especially if the pressure is reduced.

    Taking bike on a train

I took my bike on Virgin recently, they have a dedicated area for 4 bikes on the train, you are supposed to have to have a reservation which is free, the ticket office will give you the ticket for the bike. You have to hang the front wheel from a hook on the ceiling, be prepared for this! Others...

    Big Bear on Ebay.

A decent second hand Big Bear has got to be worth £6-700. The battery is worth getting on for £300. They don't come on the market very often, although you wait for ages and then 2 come at once!

    The 'cycling though treacle' effect

If the battery went flat I would find somewhere to charge it up for a couple of hours, or ring the wife for a lift home. There is no way I would pedal without power except downhill. It's not just you!

Can anyone advise exactly what paint will match the blue/grey/gunmetal colour of the Big Bear and Sirocco please?

    Traction problem with Big Bear

I admire your achievements so far but I think you have taken it as far as is practical and it might be best to sell your front wheel and put in a regular wheel. A motor car with effective 4wd would have some kind of differential or traction control which you will always be lacking. For steep...

    Traction problem with Big Bear

Is it possible to put the Big Bear motor on the back? I am a little confused by this thread. Perhaps you can if you dispense with the gears? Can anyone explain? Thanks.

    Schwalbe Marathon Plus

I came off my bike with Marathon Plus on the back wheel, was turning on a wet road and lost grip, probably had too much air in the tyre though. Never had a puncture. To be extra safe have switched to Schwalbe Marathon GT 365.

Woosh Bikes Big Bear - review after 12 month's use

Good review, why not put a pannier on the pannier rack? It will hide the battery and you can put things in it! My Woosh Sirocco will take a full panier load of shopping on top of the weight of the battery.
