Anyone ever tried to implement regenerative braking?

It's what YOU are discussing, but not what was initially raised (using a turbine to recapture energy generated from a moving bike powered by a traction motor or pedal power). Apologies if I've misunderstood.

Would fast charging make much difference?

It doesn't have to. It just defines the MAXIMUM charge rate of the charging point. The reduction in charging current that you describe is a natural consequence of the CC-CV (constant current, constant voltage) charge profile used when charging lithium based battery chemistries.

Anyone ever tried to implement regenerative braking?

Okay, but that's not what's being discussed here, is it?

Would fast charging make much difference?

Don't forget, the charge rate is practically limited by the current limit of your own ebike charger. AFAIU, the value of the resistor dictates the agreed maximum charge rate of the type 2 charging point, but I'm not 100% about this. Anyone else have any input?

Anyone ever tried to implement regenerative braking?

Oh Christ! I can't tell who's being serious and who's not now. My fault for getting sucked into such ridiculous conversations....

Anyone ever tried to implement regenerative braking?

It's not free power! The energy to power the generator has to come from somewhere. Rather than dealing with all the efficiency losses created through energy capture and conversion, why not just use the input energy to power the bicycle directly?

Would fast charging make much difference?

If you scroll down to the feedback on the product listing, you can see a number of individuals using it to successfully charge their ebikes. I think the 'handshake' you mention is just a constant voltage present on the 'CP' pin, dictated by a specific value resistor contained within the adapter...

Would fast charging make much difference?

I just found this adapter on Aliexpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006861987045.html AFAICT, it should let you power any device with a UK plug (BS1363) using a public Type 2 EV charger. See 2nd product variation for UK compatible plug. So, who's going to be the first to try it out?....

Help! Spark from my mount on my e bike

No harm done. You just discharged the controller's input capacitor when you bridged the battery connector with your screwdriver. A flash and a crack is perfectly normal in this circumstance.

Where to buy batteries - Reputable UK??

This is Unit Pack Power's new store.... Possibly a rebranding exercise following their recent unwanted press attention.

Police to get device to stop ebikes

Total utter nonsense based on nothing more than fantasy!

De restrict for off road use

Absolutely pathetic! All that fuss for 1.5mph over the maximum allowed speed limit variance. No wonder respect for the police is at an all-time low.

    Why Ride Rad?

Yeah, I miss him! I seem to remember that he was widely disliked on Pedelecs, but brightened up this forum with his unique brand of humour.

    KT kit PAS configuration

It contains two hall sensors. All the rotational logic is handled internally and the signal is output through a single wire.

    KT kit PAS configuration

I can confirm that the KT-D12L is a dual-hall PAS sensor. I would usually set C1 to '5' when using one.

    First attempt ebike conversion

I used to have a Honda S2000 for fun, but eventually realised my e-bikes gave me more smiles per mile. Ended up getting rid of it and bought a Volvo V70 instead.

Can i run KT36/48-ZWSR without display

KT controllers are definitely the best of all the 'budget' options available, but there's certainly room for improvement. The PID control required for torque throttle control is more complex than that needed for discreet fixed torque PAS levels. I've never tried the open source KT firmware, but...

Can i run KT36/48-ZWSR without display

I've always been puzzled about the throttle implementation when it comes to KT controllers. If the throttle also operated as a current (torque) throttle, it would give a huge boost in usability and also make them more marketable too.
