    Cycling. Health. Covid. Diet.

I don't. I already reduced it 2 years ago on the advice of my GP. At the time, I followed the advice of a trained medical professional, and took that advice, which took into account early deaths from heart diseases. Are you saying that following that advice was wrong, and I should have bought...

    Cycling. Health. Covid. Diet.

Yes, because of a need to reduce my cholesterol levels, I cut out dairy completely. Although I had no prior indications of being dairy intolerant, the resulting health improvements have been eye opening. I have also dropped 2.5 stone in 2.5 years. To be fair, I did overdo the cheese and...

Fault lights on Pendleton ev bike

Good information. As we have 2 bikes with the same display, I will note this for the future.

Fault lights on Pendleton ev bike

That said it would pay to revisit anything you disconnected or touched when replacing tyres.

Fault lights on Pendleton ev bike

If it's a 790 led handlebar unit, my educated guess is that it has got moisture in it. It may dry out using a hairdryer, but they are pretty inexpensive to replace if not.

Pendleton Somerby Electric Bike Head unit

My first port of call would be Halfords (Mrs 13 has a Pendleton Somerby- e bought from Halfords.) However, I guess that you have tried them first. It's a Phylion battery, and this ebay seller had some stock of Phylion spares last year. They are based in Germany. It might be worth a quick...

    Falcon Surge

My advice would be to replace the brake cables completely. Lots of low-budget bikes come with very spongy cable brakes courtesy of outer cables that compress too far when under braking pressure. If you are replacing the outer cables it makes sense to replace the inners too. The difference is...

    Winter DIY - Heated grips

I commuted in Winter for many years by motorbike and bicycle. The biggest epiphany for me, after buying lots of expensive gloves, overmitts, and running heated grips and/or heated gloves on my motorbikes was this: If you concentrate on keeping your body core warm, your extremities benefit far...

    Which halfords bime

My own opinion is that the Apollo Phaze E is the best Halfords bike right now. It's a usable, fun, decently built, viable e-bike for £500 brand new. Others will have different opinions. :)

No, but have a look at how cheap a 6-speed screw on freewheel is.

A mixture of all 3 available. 1 for shared paths with pedestrians, 2 mainly and 3 against headwinds. and up some inclines (I'd hesitate to call them hills.) We were travelling at Mrs Thirteen's pace too, so there is that to take into consideration. I've also been guilty in the past of maybe...

Help! Clothing? Mud guards? - Commute

A further point is that a decent wool (or mostly wool) suit will fold neatly into a lockable desk drawer or small locker. If done properly it will look neater every day than one that's been worn to drive in. Note that when I say, "decent," I'm not suggesting that you buy a new one. I never...

Help! Clothing? Mud guards? - Commute

It also helped me lay some ground rules. We had a Director who insisted on increasingly earlier morning meetings once a week. Petty maybe but I used to make sure that I rode through a few puddles on those days, and turned up for the meetings still in my cycling gear, sweaty, and dripping water...

Help! Clothing? Mud guards? - Commute

I don't cycle commute any longer. Back when I was doing a 30 mile round trip every day, I simply left a suit, tie and a pair of shoes at work. I wore cycling kit according to the weather and forecast, had mudguards permanently fitted, and took a clean, pressed, shirt , underwear and socks to...

    newbie help needed

I have one. It's actually very underrated. The build quality is surprisingly good, and componentry is very budget but name-brand so replacement parts are cheap and durable. The range is possibly understated. I've had mine do 25 assisted miles and not be out of charge. I would, however, also...

    Advise please.

It would fall under most folks' radar as they start to educate themselves about e-bikes, simply because on paper it's kind of ... well ... rubbish! In reality though, it's great. 35Nm trque from the front wheel motor, simple, basic cycle parts that work, and a frame/fork combination that is...
