    Motor shuddering under load

Further to the above, I've done some research and it appears that what I'm experiencing is 'cogging' due to the motor being sensorless. I don't know if a sensorless controller would resolve the throttle issue, but for now it will be pedal assist only.

    Motor shuddering under load

I recently acquired a 24v city shopper in as new condition, it had been stored for some time and the battery was dead. As a new battery was needed I thought it would be worthwhile to upgrade to 36v. So a brainpower controller and a s866 lcd were installed along with a 36v yosepower battery...

    Ancheer battery recall.

https://www.ancheer.shop/recalls/ Has anyone been successful with having a battery replaced?. I've emailed Ancheer with an enquiry, but no response yet. I was planning to replace the original battery as it's almost five years old and beginning to sag, but hey if I can get one for nothing ?.

Should we bail on the new Swytch conversion kit

The original question was 'Should we bail on the switch kit', without question YES. It has never worked properly and is downright dangerous, not fit for purpose. Get your money back and buy something like a Yose kit.

    Sourcing 18650 cells

Just to put everything in perspective, the cell replacement was a success. The pack now accepts and holds a full charge, well worth the effort. The amount of time spent was considerable, suffice to say I won't be attempting a scratch build at any time in the near future, all things considered an...

    Sourcing 18650 cells

Did exactly that to a friends 24v shopping bike with a 36v battery, controller and display. Well worth the effort.

    Sourcing 18650 cells

First a caveat, I am no expert, there are members of this forum who are far more qualified. It could be said that I know enough to be dangerous, but with advice and research I'm learning. I've had a non functioning battery laying around for some time, before I recycle it I thought I'd take it...

    Sourcing 18650 cells

Update - An email to ebikebatteries.co.uk has solved my problem. Immediate response from Jimmy who is going to a lot of trouble for very little reward. All the positive feedback they have had is well deserved.

    Sourcing 18650 cells

Thanks for the speedy reply Neal. Can't provide a pic at the moment, cells are pale blue with a white insulating disk, some are marked with a barode and KA2FK12 318399. Most have no markings whatsoever. I assume they're Chinese knock offs. The battery casing is marked JDXQT INR36111712770614...

    Sourcing 18650 cells

I have a non functioning 10s 5p battery that hasn't seen alot of use. Detailed investigation revealed one parallel group at zero volts, one cell in this group has leaked some electrolyte and appears to have taken down the other cells in that group. The other nine groups are taking and holding a...

    Manual cell balancing ?

I've discovered an EV recycling centre 20 mins away, their website offers battery diagnosis and repair/remanufacture. No mention of ebike batteries but I'll be happier knowing that they're set up for proper disposal.

    Manual cell balancing ?

As you say, nothing to lose. All welds look good and battery will be left open until discharge/charging is complete, I'll check the voltages of the individual groups before deciding how to proceed. If there's any doubt about safety it will be recycled. Thanks for all the advice, I've learned a...

    Manual cell balancing ?

I'm trying that now, seemed like the safest and quickest option.

    Manual cell balancing ?

Thanks Tony and vfr, I'd thought of charging each pack with a 4.2v charger at 450mA just didn't know if this was acceptable. I'm assuming the 42v charger sees the voltage of the best group and stops charging, so bringing that voltage down will allow all the cells to charge simultaneously...

    Manual cell balancing ?

I have a 4 year old 36v 11Ah rack battery which has been neglected for the past year or so. It has only had around 20 charge cycles in it's life. Fully charged (left it on charge overnight to balance cells) shows 36.8 on dischage connections, so I took it apart to take a look. It has fifty...

    Lirpaloof fix

For those of you who can't reach maximun speed, a small percentage came with an early form of Hill Assist as an extra, but it never caught on. My guess is this is still activated. Once bike is started pull the front brake lever 3 times in quick siccession before setting off. This will deactivate...

Advice wanted for DIY Welsh commuter (Trek FX conversion?)

Well done Benny, a black felt pen might help disguise those white cables.
