Newbie - looking for some guidance

Yes - the front hub motor/bottle mount battery setup is a very sensible setup and one of the cheapest entries into pedelecs. As it only involves swapping the front wheel, nothing is altered regarding your rear wheel and gears. Woosh's kit is well priced and good quality - there are others around...

Sweaty head syndrome. Is there a cure!?!

There are quite a few helmets designed to allow the heat out, sometimes you just need to go to a larger size so there's a bit more of an airgap between the foam and your head. Failing that, how about one of these:

One big thick d-lock with a cable or...

As I said above - if they can't cut the lock, then they can (and do) cut the thing it's locked to. Which is why it's important to lock the frame to a wheel as well as locking the frame to something fixed to the ground. There was also a trend to cut a gap in cycle parking bars and cover the gap...

    Just starting out, help wanted.

Panda had a sale on, and I got the battery from Germany. :)

    Just starting out, help wanted.

There are advantages in doing as d8veh said - pick up a neglected bike for next to nothing on places like Freecycle, Gumtree or eBay and fit a kit to that rather than your existing bike. A bit of time cleaning and oiling it, putting on new brake pads etc and it can be revived in an afternoon...

How to quick repair a puncture?

I have to say that I haven't had a single puncture in several hundred miles on my current Specialized Trigger Sport tyres, despite riding through hedge cuttings and on rutted towpaths. Incidentally they are the tyres that came with the bike. It's just that I spent a bit more money on this bike...

How to quick repair a puncture?

I only seem to get punctures when it's raining. At one point when I was cycling every day, I was almost convinced that there was something about rain that made it more likely. Maybe spiky things get washed along the edges of the road?

One big thick d-lock with a cable or...

You'd be surprised how audacious bike thieves can be. There was a spate near where I live where a cordless grinder was used to cut bike locks (or in some cases the railing they're locked to). It's only on for a few seconds so by the time people work out what the noise is, they're already cycling...

Towbar cycle carriers suitable for heavy bike

OK - what do people think of the Thule Euroride 941? It appears that Renault sell their branded version of it for £184 (on their eBay shop) and it lists the individual bike weight as 20kg maximum. I reckon that's close enough to be classed as compliant.

Towbar cycle carriers suitable for heavy bike

I haven't spent quite a lot of money on the bike though, I've fitted a cheap kit to a cheap bike - costing under £400 in total. Very much at the budget end of EAPC :) I don't have any worries about a 3 bike carrier detaching, as with only two bikes on it'll be well under the maximum load. If...

How to quick repair a puncture?

I get the impression that the OP cannot repair a puncture due to a physical issue. So maybe swapping the inner tube is the best type of solution.

Towbar cycle carriers suitable for heavy bike

That was my thinking - the biggest issue is probably the total weight and how that affects the towball clamping. So a carrier rated for 45kg total (3 bikes) won't have any issues 36kg total from 2 bikes. Having a bike 33% over the individual rating should be fine as long as it's secured well...

Towbar cycle carriers suitable for heavy bike

Something like the Thule 916/925 or Atera Strada would be fantastic - but way outside the budget I mentioned in the first post (£175 ideally, possibly up to £200). I did look at the Buzzrack Buzzwing 2 on roofbox.co.uk which claims 20kg per bike, so that may be an option (as the bike would only...

    Battery Location advice please

You can often fit bottle type batteries on frames with low crossbars - but it can be tight, so you'll need to measure. Here's a photo of my wife's bike - the battery is just about removable. You can get ones that slide out sideways rather than upwards for this exact situation (but they cost...

Towbar cycle carriers suitable for heavy bike

Cheers. I think I'l go for the Thule 9403. Sadly the display doesn't come off the bike (it's a KT-LCD3), but I'll remove anything loose like the battery, lights etc. and add extra securing on anything that can move about. I don't intend to travel in rain (as above). If it does I still have the...

Towbar cycle carriers suitable for heavy bike

Not too worried about the weather, as we'll only really be using it to travel to cycle routes in order to ride for recreation - so only if it's forecast to be dry anyway. But a good point. My battery is about 4kg - which still leaves the bike at well over 15kg. Yes I think I'll take that off...

Towbar cycle carriers suitable for heavy bike

Now I've converted my wife's bike with a 250W front hub and 10Ah bottle battery it weighs almost 25kg - it was a cheap, heavy, steel framed mountain bike to start with. My unconverted Specialized Crosstrail is 14kg. I'm looking for a towbar mounted cycle carrier, but many state a maximum of...

    Bafang crank engagement broken

Excellent. And also reassuring to know that you would also have been able to remove it using the method I suggested of drilling a hole in it and using a screw to pull it would probably have worked too. Now let's see what was hiding underneath and causing your initial problem!

Which conversion kit for a touring bike?

Until my bottle mount lithium battery arrived a couple of days ago, I was using sealed lead acids on a pannier rack. That's six 5Ah batteries gaffer taped together and held down with two bungees - 14kg in total. I weigh around 110kg. No problems with grip with a 250W front hub motor going up...

    Which Kit?

Your local bike shop should be able to fit a motor to your existing wheel if you can't find the motor you want already laced into a wheel of the right size.
