    Etech Motion ebikes

Anyone who doesn't realise that a motor is better driving a bicycle wheel through a gearbox wasn't listening in Physics at school. Sure the hub drive will work. But the mid drive will work a whole lot better. Actually both bikes are more similar than you think, after all they both have the...

    Etech Motion ebikes

My comments are based on my actual riding experience as l have one of each. A 250w legal Shimano mid drive E8000 on my Kona and a legal 250w hub drive on the Mirider. l've done 3,000 miles on the Kona and so far around 200 on the Mirider.

Onewheel GT has a serialized motor that you can't even pay them to fix - WHAT THE #$&@

Slightly different but A friend has a brand new Land Rover Defender and has had a minor accident in it. The vehicle needs a new rear quarter panel and "sorry it's not currently available" The vehicle has so far been sat for three months with still no delivery date for the part.

Yep, this is in no way unusual, it's industry wide and designed so you have to fit their parts.

The hub drive is okay but in a mid drive motor the power is transmitted through the chain, so on steep hills you can get more torque and also it's better when starting off, by using the gears. On a hub drive, while you still have gears they only help you to put more torque through the pedals...

    Etech Motion ebikes

The best bike for that kind of work is going to be one of the mid drive ones, such as the Bosch motor. They have twice the torque of your average legal hub motor and also work through your gears, so you can climb hills better. They start at about £2,000

The Mirider would be no use to you then! Decathlon sell some pretty decent e-mountain bikes for around the £1,000 mark and it might be worth a look. Plus you'll have somewhere to take it back to if there's any issues with it. Both the bikes below are around the £1,000 mark and the...

    Etech Motion ebikes

The Radrunner looks good. lt's not a folding bike though, so it depends on what you want. lt's also quite heavy. The Mirider is great (l've got one) but it's £1500. The Onebot is okay and it's half the price, uses the same frame as the Mirider....it's not as good but it's great if you only have...

    Etech Motion ebikes

They look similar to most cheap folding ebikes, probably alright for the money. Bizarre looking rear suspension with four coil springs and then one further spring in the down tube. Very heavy as well, the one you mentioned is 35kg, although they do list lighter weight models. As a comparison my...

Bosch Active Line Motor Casing - Creeking

l would lose more by selling it and buying an alternative bike, than l would by keeping it and budgeting for a replacement motor sometime in the future.

Bosch Active Line Motor Casing - Creeking

The O/P has not been back since 2020 so it's unlikely we'll find out if he solved his creaking motor unit. But l would second the comments above, a similar creaking on my Shimano E8000 mid drive motor was due to loose motor mounting bolts. Tightened (to the correct torque) and the creaking...

    Would you believe it?

l bought the little Mirider folding ebike for my wife to ride when we are on holiday. I've been out on the bike about ten times since purchasing it two weeks ago, covering around 130 miles in total. And this is the thing. l actually prefer the Mirider to my £5,600 Kona FS e-mountain bike...

    Disc brake issues

Well, for now l've ordered two new discs as they are only £6 each, it's not worth taking the bike back to the shop for a £12 warranty claim.

    Disc brake issues

Good points, the Kona has a torque sensor as well as a cadence sensor so the motor won't start unless you actually put pressure on the pedals (just turning them won't do it!) Where the folding ebike is just a cadence sensor so if the pedals turn, the motor can spring into life at full power...

    Disc brake issues

l could, and it would be much better, but the brake levers have switches on them for the motor (so when you apply the brakes it shuts off the motor) l guess l would have to bypass those? My Kona e-mountain bike doesn't have them, so they can't be a legal requirement or essential. Although on...

    Disc brake issues

My new folding ebike came with Clark's mechanical disc brakes. They are a fairly basic design, in that the lever only moves the outside pad, so it pushes the disc against the other pad to apply the brake. While it does work, both front and rear brakes are not smooth in their operation, it's as...

    Onebot S9 speed unlock

Changing it one wheel size won't affect the speedometer by much, most seem to read optimistically so you might even make it more accurate. As standard it will be probably set to 16". lf you can change it, try 14" which was the next size down on my controller. The actual wheel diameter in mine is...
