On my Kona (Shimano E8000) the remaining battery level never changes, so once it's down to (say) 2 bars it will never go back up. l assume the BMS is better on these Shimano/Bosch etc premium drive system. However the "remaining range" indicator will vary depending on what you are doing, for...

Looking for a cheap starter folding E-Bike

The O/P has never been back since posting their question two years ago. l've just bought a folding ebike and am having great fun on it, it's the Mirider 1 which costs £1500 However there's a similar looking one called the Onebot at half the price and reports say it's okay. l am really...

Conversion from Ebike to standar bike.

As above, give it away or sell it as an ebike, to convert it (to a non ebike) you'd need to replace the wheel for one without a motor, and then you'd have a heavy Klunker of a bike that nobody would want.

Rad Runner or Fat E-bike on cyclescheme

How many miles each way is your commute, and is it flat or hilly, on tarmac roads or a mixture of roads/tracks?

So, this afternoon l went for it and set out on my regular 18 mile loop. The first 3.6 miles were road and then l got to the first beast of a hill, a one mile partially out of the saddle climb, at the top the battery showed two bars (from 4) Hold the warp drive Scotty, we're experiencing a power...

    Are E-bikes overpriced?

l think that's just the prototype. The website looks very good, but l can't find a review of the trike. It would be interesting to hear from someone who has actually ridden one, they do 250w and 1,000w versions. l would imagine the 1,000 watt motor would be pretty much essential looking at the...

Sadly l didn't go out last night, the rain was going sideways and l just didn't fancy it. l'll try for tonight. The Mirider is billed as fully water resistant to IP65 so should be okay.

That's interesting, thank you. After l've done the "full speed" test l may well give your suggestion a try and see how far l get. l could try riding to see my friend who lives 25 miles away and a fairly flat route.

l wish !! The ride will be recorded on Strava so l will know the actual distance. l will give both results (the bike and Strava) Looking at the weather, l will probably be testing the water resistance of the bike as well

The bike is rideable without assistance from the motor, there's seems to be very little drag, and the bike is quite light (for an ebike) so l should be fine to carry on when the battery is exhausted. So this time l am going to go for maximum speed and see what happens, and l will report back!

Thank you also for the posts re battery range, l will let you know how far l get on the 18 mile route!

lt's the newer version. To be honest l expected the same, but am amazed by how good the ride is on 16" wheels. l did have the shop fit some slightly larger tyres with more tread, but l could happily ride this bike 20-30 miles. The steering is a bit more twitchy compared to my regular bike, but...

Sounds good. The O/P never updated their post so hopefully they got their bike sorted.

So l've just bought a Mirider 1 which a pretty standard rear hub drive folding ebike. The quoted range is 30-40 miles although l admit this is "using power level one" presumably on flat roads. Being a regular MTB rider l've ridden the Mirider pretty much to the limit of its speed all the...

    my hub drive problems

1500 watts, good grief that's not an ebike it's an electric motorcycle Not surprising it's pulled the wheel out of the drop outs as the motor is probably six times the designed power limit of the bike.

DVSA prosecutes UK company illegally supplying unrestricted e-(motor)bikes

l've seen these "ebikes" out on the road and they are lethal, but also almost impossible to catch. So unlikely to get done for riding one. They are almost always ridden badly, the wrong way up one way streets, through red lights, wrong side of the road, high speeds through parks etc We seem to...

    Review MiRider One

l've got the Mirider and it works well, but l would say it would be pointless trying to derestrict it as the single gear spins out at about 18mph. The assistance fades out at around 16.5mph. The bike rides well, it's for my wife but l rode it home from the shop. l also took it off road which...

    Whirlwind folding Ebike

Well, l've gone for the Mirider because it's actually for my wife, who tried it and liked it. I rode it home today and am impressed with it, it's not got any gears but has a "boost" button on the right handlebar which engages the maximum assist, and it seems to work best in assist level 3 (from...

From "the Lockpicking Lawyer" - Locksmith Says My Videos Are BS... Loses $75

Wow that's impressive speed, shows that "secure" locks are no match for the professional! l've been using a solid looking motorcycle lock to secure my ebike and l bet it's no better than that one. ls that tool you are using readily available and does it take special training to use it? A bit...
