Help! What should be the budget for an e-bike?

l am not sure l agree that you need to spend quite that much!! My e-mountain bike cost £5,600 and my folding ebike was £1,500 There's nothing wrong with the £1,500 bike, l would question the need to spend any more on that kind of commuting/holiday bike unless you absolutely must have one that...

Help! What should be the budget for an e-bike?

The Mirider has rear suspension and it makes a big difference to ride comfort. A bit of suspension, done well, is well worth having. Done badly (like the fork on the £700 ebike l tried last week) it's worse than not having any. The Mirider rear suspension is an elastomer and it's adjustable...

Help! What should be the budget for an e-bike?

l think it's just a language difference. To the O/P try the Mirider 1. lts not the cheapest, but it's good.

Help! What should be the budget for an e-bike?

l paid £1500 for my folding ebike, twice the price of the ones on Amazon/ebay However the bike is quality, l've thrashed it off road, well out of its comfort zone, and l ride it at the maximum speed all the time. Nothing has broken or fallen off, in fact it rides so well on the road that l...

Pre-Purchase advice. (Help me making a major mistake) - About to buy it!!!

l've got a Mirider 1 and it's superb, but expensive at £1500 l've looked at (and ridden) cheaper alternatives and many aren't that great. But the Woosh Rambletta looks great at £995. l've nothing to do with either company (Mirider or Woosh) but just going off my own research.

You get what you pay for!!

l think self build is the way to go if you can do it. The "suspension fork" on the ebike l tried was just two springs in the tubes and was worse than nothing Well, as in, my ebike with no front suspension rides better.

l'm not sure what "middle class" means these days. lf it's to do with wealth, many will have become "middle class" because of the massive rise in house prices !!

    Newbie (well, hopefully soon!)

lf you can stretch to £1500 l can't fault my Mirider 1 lt rides well, is light, and folds easily. l find myself using it more than my e-mountain bike for general rides. lt's got rear suspension making it much more comfortable on rougher roads and tracks. Real world range is 15-20 miles...

You get what you pay for!!

There's not much sign of poverty round here. People are still tossing new cars onto their drives and the kids are all riding around on £2,000 mtb's Extensions are appearing on houses and money is being spent on driveways, kitchens, motor homes etc The streets are crammed with cars, if anything...

You get what you pay for!!

It wasn't really a rant, it was just observations, the guy with the cheaper ebike is happy with his choice. I've got a Mirider 1. The cheap ebike was a "Hitway" foldable electric bike. The frame and general design looks a lot like mine.

l think the law of diminishing returns applies, as suggested above. l would say that any ebike under £1,000 is better off rigid (no suspension) The guy who owns the £700 ebike l mentioned above thinks it's great and highly recommended it to me.

You get what you pay for!!

l paid £1500 for my folding ebike and have seen plenty of bikes at half the price, making me wonder if l had spent too much. l've also had people on the forum tell me that my bike was too expensive and l can get a similar one for half the price. Today l had a chance to try a folding ebike...

Driver passes too close despite lollipop on passing side

lt doesn't happen around here, but it does happen in London where my brother lived. My guess is that the more clogged with cars a place is, the less patient the car drivers become, and also the cyclists become more mercenary. Not all drivers/cyclists of course, just some.

Driver passes too close despite lollipop on passing side

lt could depend on where in the country you are. Round here l've never had any issues cycling on the road. But my brother lived in London for some years, commuted by bike, and it's a lot worse there, caused in part by the behaviour of cyclists but also the mentality of car drivers in the City.

    no power

That's a great offer. But if there's an issue elsewhere could the new controller not be damaged by connecting it to the system? Who knows what's been done to the wiring or other parts by persons unknown

750 Battery, Motor Noise And Bike Size?

Go for the larger battery, as already said you can't have too much reserve. My Kona has a 504Wh battery and it's barely enough. Even not using "Turbo" l can rinse the battery in thirty miles.

Ebike Chargers running too hot -- a solution .

Ah l was talking about efficiency of the actual transformer and not the entire power supply. l guess it's the power supply as a whole that matters really, as you say.

Hi there! Trying to fix a Joycube charger - MOSFET puzzlement!

You think £60 is expensive for a charger try buying a replacement one for a Bosch or Shimano ebike http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313567382542?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=RaQaCPDuS3a&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=Cj4IjO6GTG6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
