    Advice needed!

l've got the Mirider and you can ask me whatever you want about it. The Mirider is compact, lightweight and folds up small, so if that's what you need then it will be ideal. lt's only a single gear and it spins out at about 18 mph so there's not much point in "derestricting" it. However it's...

Private E Scooters to be Legalised

lt's the same in the Netherlands where my brother lives, ebikes, e-scooters, ordinary bikes all being used sensibly and few issues. But they have a very good cycling infrastructure with cycle lanes in many places separating the bikes, scooters etc from cars and pedestrians

Private E Scooters to be Legalised

Heavens that looks impressive but hardly the type of "e-scooter" that the govt plans to legalise

Private E Scooters to be Legalised

Well yes, l tried one in Decathlon and fell off at the end of the aisle while trying to turn. But these are seriously small wheels, about 6" in diameter. l guess there's none of the gyroscopic stability that you get with larger wheels.

Private E Scooters to be Legalised

l don't know, my folding ebike has 16" wheels and is perfectly stable/safe. l am used to riding my mountain bike that has 27 1/2" wheels so l wasn't expecting the folding bike to be as good as it is. I've done over 30mph downhill and it still feels stable. The steering is more direct than my...

    Review MiRider One

Going off the lack of response to my post it looks like l am the only person on the forum who has bought one of these bikes apart from the O/P

Private E Scooters to be Legalised

l didn't make it up, l said it LOOKED like he did it on purpose. Not that he actually did. But the timing is so perfect and the door opens so quickly that it does look like he did it on purpose!

Private E Scooters to be Legalised

The guy in the car is a tit. He should have looked before opening his door, and he opened it so quickly that it was almost like he did it on purpose.

Private E Scooters to be Legalised

I will be surprised if e-scooters are legalised. Not sure if it's good or bad. Ridden sensibly they could be great for commuting.

Can anyone compare these two bikes.

You'll be lucky to find anyone who has owned either bike, as there are so many Ebikes to choose from. l've got a Mirider 1 which is apparently popular but none of my posts about this bike have produced a response from anyone who actually owns one. However, from your two choices l would go for...

Can anyone compare these two bikes.

Mid drive motors are better if you want to ride off road, due the the better control through the gears etc But the situation regarding motor repairs and (non availability of) spares is appalling, people are buying these bikes at £4,000+ not realising that a few years down the line they could...

Front suspension - does it affect range ?

A good front suspension fork shouldn't "bop up and down" and l doubt it will affect the range more than marginally

    Etech Motion ebikes

Just be aware of how heavy that cargo bike is, it's listed on their website at "net weight 36kg gross weight 45kg" So you won't be lifting it into the back of a van so easily. Won't be an issue so long as you don't need to lift it, or ride it without the motor assistance, although it quotes a...

    Etech Motion ebikes

Many of these "high end" ebikes cost £8,000 or more, which is a lot of money for a bicycle. You can buy a brand new car for £8,000 !! Mine retailed at £5,600 but l paid £4,500 in 2021 because it was a NOS 2020

    Etech Motion ebikes

l won't modify mine as the Shimano motors can fail, and can't be repaired apparently, and l don't want to increase the chances of failure. Not sure about the hub drive ones, someone will be able to advise l am sure.

    Etech Motion ebikes

l thought they were all limited to 250w l've clearly still got a lot to learn about ebikes! l have to say that on full power the Shimano motor definitely has more power than the hub drive one. I was using the Shimano on "eco" as l thought it was a fairer comparison. ls it 250w continuous and...

    Disc brake issues

The problem is my brake levers have cut out switches in them and l don't want to lose the switches as they are quite useful. Otherwise l would probably go hydraulic

    Disc brake issues

l fitted two new discs tonight, the brakes are fine now. l set them up as recommended above. The rear pads were only partially over the disc, so changed the spacers around and it works a lot better. They are still nothing like hydraulic brakes, it may be partially to do with the pads that are...

    Etech Motion ebikes

Yep, Mirider quote a 50 mile range, to get that you have to ride on flat ground at moderate speed in assist level 1 (from 5) Ridden more enthusiastically l can rinse the battery in 1/4 that distance, although with a little care l can manage 16-18 miles Kona quote "up to 60 miles" range on my...
