    Cyclist age

In Denmark we have the lycra clad guys and gals. We have the CSC taem and now Christine Watches, who are a totally new team. But we also have the touring and casual cyclists and we all get on very well. Over 40% of Danish households do not own a car because they use bikes. My house is on...

    tyre exploded

It sounds like the tyre was not seated correctly. I have never had any problems with Schwalbe tyres and it is all I will use. Refit it and blow it up to the same pressure again and see what happens. That stretch may have some effect though. Steve

    Cyclist age

Judging by the poll your wife is correct about the old bit but you can tell her from me that I started cycling again in the winter when it got down to -23 in Denmark. I have lost 8kg since then and now weigh 75kg. I have just completed a 50km Audax ride (on a road bike) and it was a doddle. I...

    Wisper spokes

I watched a video on Youtube recently where a top wheel guy in the USA said using the sound of a spoke to gauge the correct tension is nonesense. A bit like kicking a car tyre. Even he used a tool to measure the tension of the spokes. An interesting thought. Steve

    More Lorry Danger for Cyclists?

Quite so. My apologies. It was not the point I was making. I would suggest that there are more crap men drivers than women. The road systems in the UK are just not made for cyclists. If they give you a cycle path they are a narrow strip at the side of the road where you have to ride over the...

    More Lorry Danger for Cyclists?

Most cycle deaths in Denmark are caused at junctions where lorries are turning right (nearside turns) as we drive on the right. The highway services have introduced all sorts of measures to help combat this and are having some good results. I believe we have had only one cyclist killed since...

You can of course wear your lycra shorts under a pair of baggy casual shorts as I do. I still like to have padding between myself and the saddle. Steve

1st Idiot Caught on my Bike Cam

These are the situations when you can enter the cross hatchings: (a) to enable the vehicle to enter, from the side of the road on which it is proceeding, land or premises adjacent to the length of road on which the line is placed, or another road joining that road; (b) in order to pass a...

    How do you ride?

There are some very varied and interesting replies here so thanks for your replies. My initial thought was that people would use the electric all the time but from your replies it is obvious that a lot of riders do not do that. Cytronex sell a very nice Cannondale CAAD9 racing bike and I...

Front el hub for racing bike.

I am looking at options other than buying a new el bike. I have a TREK Lexa SL racing bike and thought I would make some enquiries with regards to getting a front hub for this bike. It has a 622X15 wheel. I know Cytronex put front hubs on race bikes but they are not releasing their...

    could kill boyfriend.

Find a local blacksmith and take it to him. If he cannot fix it he will tell you if it can be fixed and who can do it. It will be cheaper than a new crankset. First step is to get someone else to look at it. Second step is to sack the boyfriend :D 3rd step is to buy a book on...
