I *think* he is one of those people who sit in their car having a phone chat. Might have been doing that when he got out without checking the brake. But, obviously, it also needed to be out of gear. (I can't see him having it in reverse gear and getting out/dropping the clutch all in one go.)

It is a manual car with a push-button parking brake. Impossible to be sure. The gear shift looked to be in neutral. But there didn't appear to be any visible indication of brake status. (Bound to be when ignition is on, but when I saw, it was off.) I didn't see, but apparently the chap raced...

Yesterday morning, a car rolled from the drive of a nearby house, and about 100 metres or so, down my drive, through my fence, demolishing the wall below the fence, ending up in my next-door neighbour's garden. (Could have been far worse - if anyone had been in the way, or if it had moved just...

The level of tory support is readily accessible even from the Caribbean. He made a huge mistake in his assessment that he could get enough tory MPs to occupy the 150-ish government positions. And his giving up speech was all "I" (19 of them in a short piece) and me, me, me. Giving Johnson any...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

From where we are, Starmer is at the very least an essential stepping stone to a better government. As I see it, we need to look at getting much closer to the EU, with (I hope) an eventual rejoining or not far off. Getting Labour to the point at which that becomes their policy might take time...

I'm not entirely convinced. There are incredible numbers of "But he's just being Boris" fools.

Yet MPs and others continue to break the absolutely basic rules of tory party membership - e.g. in their rude, insulting behaviour on social media. Expressly prohibited.

Earlier today Craig Whittaker was on the Johnson list but denied he'd expressed his opinion to anyone. Can't see him now so might have been removed.

Seems quite appropriate that we are having the absolutely most intense lightning and thunder we've ever seen here. Mostly, such weather more or less passes by - but not tonight.
