I'm no engineer but plain ol common sense says this is madness.....

Most of it looks fairly credible at first glance. 47Kw of power is around 70bhp, which may be adequate. Will 50Ah of battery really keep it flying for 2 to 3 minutes? Maybe, without doing the maths. One point of suspicion is here "It's expected that the FBike will be capable of a flight time...

    Probably a dumb question

Yes, it would be possible to push the cells into the kind of carrier sometimes seen in torches (or into the kind of arrangement that's internal to a torch). Held under enough pressure at the top and bottom (so you need a strong, accurately made carrier) and you could almost certainly get a...

    Have you stripped again..recently..?.

Not sure if I understand - but if the pedal wasn't firmly tightened into the crank during the pre-delivery check, then what you've described is bound to happen. Expensive parts just as shot as cheap parts, after a more reasonable interval. I'm very pleased with my Cyclamatic Foldaway, but...

    inside leg measurement

Ask your wife - she'll have been born knowing the correct method, just as you were born knowing how to mend punctures ;)

Brompton M2L-X (Titanium) - Super Lightweight Pedelec Conversion

I'd be quite concerned (ie dead certain) that one leg would bend and the other one stay the same. The correct way to do it is to take a scaffolding tube, drop it over the one leg, bend it out a tad and do the same to the other. However, a plank of wood with a slot in it might be better.

HaiBike eQ Xduro FS - a note of caution

I don't want to give E-bikes a hard time, I'm sure James is a dedicated spanner-wallah. But you've asked and maybe answered the same question I'd be asking. If necessary he should order a new bike from Haibike, steal the missing part, and send the cannibalised remains back to Germany (?)...

Do you leave your battery on the bike when you lock it?

The Axa (or "Dutch horseshoe") locks are stupendous, all our cycles have them, as all cycles should. Some have the additional plug in cable/chain, which is superb as well. Except the Cyclamatic Foldaway, the wheel profile/mudguard combination is too deep and there's no obvious way to mount...

Do you leave your battery on the bike when you lock it?

My Cyclamatic Foldaway is way heavier than your Brompton (23kg?) and quite a lump when I park it next to the table. However, it may be better than yours on railway platforms - it rolls along very happily on the back wheel. You can even push it round in folded condition with the panniers...

Cyclamatic Power Plus Electric Bike £399

After I wrote and posted that tip, I realised that I'm regularly using the quick-release on the seat all the time, folding and unfolding. So I've abandoned using the cable-tie on the seat-post. But I still use a cable tie on the front wheel to keep it safe. I've also taken to cable-tieing all...

Cyclamatic is new and dying, help!

You'll be glad to know I've kept it and loved it and cared for it and we've been together for a stratospheric 180 miles. How do I know my exact mileage? Well, I've put a little wireless cyclometer on it, which doubles as a fuel-meter. About 3 shopping trips takes me to 8 miles and the amber...

    Cyclamatic or 8Fun kit

The problem with bottom-brackets is that, once loose, the cup rattles in its thread until it wears out both. Even though it's not yet a stripped thread, there is enough movement such that it will never tighten and hold again. It is possible to distort the outer (force the lower lip upwards in...

Advantages and disadvantages of e-bikes over conventional bikes?

I have a Foldaway and I think it's brilliant. Advantages: 1) Travelwise, not a lot of difference for the short trips I do, often take the push-bike instead. 2) Very handy in the car. Disadvantages: 1) Security is a worry, have to carry a chain and lock cycle to a stand or post even for...

Cyclamatic: The Beastamatic is dead! Long live the Beastamatic

Bigger Chainwheel on Foldaway? I'd go for a single chainwheel, but bigger, if anyone's tried it. On my Cyclamatic with the 20" wheels I think I've got 46 teeth at the front.

Cyclamatic: The Beastamatic is dead! Long live the Beastamatic

Do you know all your Photobucket pictures have disappeared? There's a number of things come loose on them, like the spokes in the rear wheel. Seat, fuses, pedals break, front wheel bearings tighten. All fixable says this expert who has still only done 180 miles!

    Truck V Cyclist Accidents Discussion

I'm on the side of the lorry drivers. The only cyclist killed in St Ives in many years was undertaking at traffic lights when this happened. Cyclists have got to know about this trap and avoid it. Friends of cycling have got to warn each other. Instead of which, we have endless discussions...

    Dangers of biking

All two-wheelers require (but also make it very easy) for the rider to be aware of the road surface. You almost never need to look down, but you do need to spot shiny bits and any changes/lines in the road surface.

All the business on Lithium life-span

Right, I think I understand at last. If I fit a battery around 6 times bigger and 6 times more expensive, I can benefit from cycle life up to 5 times longer, perhaps 10 years instead of 2 years!

All the business on Lithium life-span

Maybe it's that most e-bike users take longer trips than me. I've still not been further than about 2 miles in any direction, so 80% charge with frequent top-up is entirely practical to me. Similarly, a restriction of "use only middle 60% of charge" is perfectly tolerable. Is it possible that...

    Eye & Bungy strap

Proper, high elasticity bungys were all the rage in the 1970s but they mysteriously go in and out of fashion. So for quite a few years we've only been able to get modern bungys from Tescos which are pathetic, totally lacking in za-za zoom. The Dutch, who really do know their bicycles, provide...

Lead Acid Batteries , Brands and prices .

Everything that's been said. Yuasa is a good name, but it would seem that Rita is good as well. Then what's been said about extra capacity and not stressing the battery, that's good. What I would say is that Lead-acid batteries (as in cars) have a potential life of at least 10 years...
