It's not hard to understand why I typed about going DOWN from 2nd to 1st being easy. The reason I typed it was because I was trying the Woosh Santana CD up a hill and was deliberately in too high a gear so I could test the gear change. It clunked from 5th to 4th, clunked less from 4th to 3rd...

    Cheaper bike

Gear 5 or 5th gear is higher than gear 1 or 1st gear. When you change Up a gear it is faster for the same input, when you change down a gear it is slower for the same input but I'm sure you knew that. Although to be fair to you, I know a guy who talks about changing down into top gear.

    Cheaper bike

In my post about the Woosh Santana Cd I mentioned being in gear 5 as the hill steepened. It was too high a gear deliberately as I wanted to check the gear changing. It clunked from 5 to 4, then from 4 to 3 less of a clunk. From 3 to 2 it was OK and from 2 to 1 it was seamless. If I had just been...

The big bear being better doesn't make the Santana Cd bad. I've tried the Cd uphill as I reported on here. Whilst it didn't match my Kudos Typhoon uphill it wasn't bad. I don't understand the bit about a CD NOT going up a 15% hill on throttle alone. Does the big bear do it?

    Cheaper bike

As you are aware, I have 2 Kudos hub drive bikes and my wife has a Woosh crank drive. In the hill climb test I did I reported about the gear change on the Woosh. It clunked from 5th to 4th and was easier down in the lower gears. I was deliberately in too high a gear simply to test for the clunk...

    The Thumbs up

I was out playing today and after 25 miles I was 1 mile from home. It's uphill and reaches about 12% at the steepest. I put my spare battery on just before the start of the climb. This made the climb easier. It must have also made it look easy to the cars coming the other way. Nearing the...

Folding bike, 20", full suspension and integrated battery.

Why is it on almost every thread, no matter what bike is being discussed, it comes round to Woosh? As to the bike in the OP, you couldn't pay me to take it. :)

    Battery charging regime

I've run my Typhoon flat. It did 30 miles and game over. I've also done 30 miles and it was still going but with much reduced power. If I was only doing 2 or 3 miles I'd probably not charge it every day. I guess it all depends on how frequently you use it.

Did anyone go out to watch the Tour de France

I liked when the team BMC rider went from one side of the road to the other to give the young lad his bag after the feeding station. A nice touch that.

    Performance figures database

Haha, ironically I don't like whisky either. The last bottle I had, I used it to light a charcoal BBQ. I'm quite rare up here. I'm tea total and I've never worn a kilt.

    Performance figures database

The only way for this database to work is, every company sends me two examples from their range. I will then test (play) on them and draw up a table. You'd all best hurry though, it's now July, winter will soon descend on Scotland. In reality I don't think a performance or quality database...

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

I'm beginning to become impressed with myself. I must be fitter than I gave myself credit for. Usually I cycle alone but when I'm out with someone else it's usually a racing snake in Lycra who weighs about 4 stone less than I. This means that I 'up my game' a bit. The two of us also compete...

    Crank drives and derailleurs.

Dave! More bikes next year? Don't you know I've a wedding to pay for and I was hoping to retire next year? Looks like I'll need to work a couple of overtime shifts and buy a bigger garage. ;)

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

I am far from an athlete I assure you. I did do 35 mph but it was stupidity that made me do it. It didn't last long and I thought I was dying after it. The conditions were right and the wind was favourable instead of being against me so I just went for it. The pedal speed was very fast and too...

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

First off, forget the lights on your battery. I don't know how I get about 30 miles on the Typhoon. I just know I do. When I first got it I went to the forth bridge and on the way back I reached a cafe 5 miles from my house and the battery went flat. It had started to go slower about 3 or 4...

    Thule Bike Rack for Towbar

Don't know about the 916 plug, it will tell you in halfords site I guess. The towbar will come with whatever you ask to be put on it. I chose 7 pin then I bought the rack which had 13 pins. ;)

    Thule Bike Rack for Towbar

I've got a Thule 929 euro classic carrier I got it from http://www.freeborn.co.uk/thule-929-euroclassic-g6-3-bike-towball-carrier It takes 3 bikes up a total of 60kg. It clamps onto the towball and whilst I was wary at first, it carries the bikes well and sits solidly. You can adjust the torque...

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

I totally agree with this. I flattened the Typhoon battery one time about 5 miles from home. It still had green LEDs showing on the battery. Once you do that, you soon learn how far you can go on a charged battery. ;)

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

I'm generally (99%) of the time, in power level 5 on the Tourer. I don't live in a flat area. The hills aren't extremely steep but there are thousands of them. I normally get 30 to 35 miles on the battery. I switch power levels from 5-4-3-4-5 on the Typhoon. Power level 5 takes the bike up...
