    We're actually doing quite well.

It seems team GB have faith in their own abilities

In truth if it hadn't been for fit young women wearing next to nothing, beach volleyball wouldn't have ever been heard of. It's definitely not an olympic sport.

It seems team GB have faith in their own abilities

Could I just add men's beach volleyball to the list of sports which shouldn't be in the Olympics.

    Cycling under the rain

1st, save your £50. 2nd, I'm never sure if these are wind ups or not but let's assume not. as Flecc pointed out, the wind will catch the umbrella and blow you and the bike all over the place. Buying a stronger umbrella will just mean a stronger wind can then blow you all over the place. Buy a...

The French put a stop to it.

In Aberdeenshire 'furry boots' are not things worn on your feet in the Winter and 'fit like' doesn't mean you're having a stroke. Ayrshire is where Robert Burns hailed from and his language wasn't really English, some of the words are still used down there yet, even if somewhat more modern...

The French put a stop to it.

Scottish people, me, tend to be able to understand most other accents. Which is strange since no-one understands us. That has its advantages sometimes though. Aberdeenshire accents are the exception to every rule.

    Bradley Wiggins Sparks Helmet Debate

The main point of this thread isn't whether a helmet will give some protection, it's about helmets being made compulsory by law. I always wear my helmet when out on the bike but I'm against compulsion by law.

E-bikes for sale on the telly.

Being Olympiced out I flicked through the many cable channels. There's a shopping channel (OK there's loads of them) called Pricedrop. As I was flicking I saw they had an E-bike on the show. A Viking E-GO for £499 + £10 for shipping. I'm not wanting a Viking E-GO but I think it's good that...

    Bikes at olympic rowing

If the average speed is 14mph then surely an electric bike is the right choice. :)

    Nice idea but...

I stand by my original post. I've lived here all my life, 54 years, and never heard anyone ever use it. if you've heard anyone up here use it you must be drinking in some strange pubs. Anyway, that's all I'll be posting on this subject.

    Nice idea but...

Being posh in Falkirk doesn't make you posh elsewhere. It just means you can count to 20 without taking your shoes off. ;)

I've lived in Scotland all my life and never once heard it called that.

Londoner Bradley Wiggins wins the Tour de France

He's half English, half Australian and born in Belgium. I don't think we Scots can claim him.......sadly. :). However, no matter what, it was an incredible acheivment and he's one Lycra clad cyclist none of us e-bikers will be boasting about overtaking.

new kudos or 2nd hand Kalkhoff? or Wisper?

That would all depend on the price and condition of the used bike and the condition of the battery. The new bike has everything new and comes with a guarantee. It actually all depends on what the person buying the bike wants to be honest.

new kudos or 2nd hand Kalkhoff? or Wisper?

That is true and what some find OK others will struggle with on the same bike. As usual the best advice is, 'try before you buy'

    God bless the Hamsters....

I decided to get a short run in this morning, so I did my usual 'short' route but in reverse. Doing it in that direction leaves me a long steep hill to my village. I had a plan, and as usual plans seem like a good idea at the time. I arrived at the bottom of the hill and looked up it...

new kudos or 2nd hand Kalkhoff? or Wisper?

I've got a Kudos Tourer and it climbs hills OK. You have to do a bit of work on the hills but the bike makes it a lot easier than a normal bike. Your 16 mile round trip is about half the battery range so you'll do it OK. I've never had a Kalkhof or Wisper but I'd be going for the new Kudos...

    Help needed

Peter, I love the Tourer. I've been up and down many hills on it and would have another anytime. The problem I had last week was all my own doing and was simply the plug on the cable needing pushed back in properly. I use mine on full power all the time and it does 30+ miles on a charge. I like...

    Help needed

Thanks to both for your replies: Flecc, I didn't disconnect any of the wires as there is enough slack to allow the wheel to come out enough to get a tube in/out. Dave, I've been back out and looked at the speed sensors. The spoke one is still where it was, on the wired part though, the...
