Bunch of ebike stuff from BMS battery

Tempted, but recently taken delivery of new kit! The Q100C is a popular choice - maybe if you change the title to include it, you will get more interest

Test Q128C before building into wheel?

Damned inconsiderate domestic appliances! Mind you, they can be cannibalised - Graeme Obree used drum bearings to make a narrow BB for his record-breaking home-built bike.

Test Q128C before building into wheel?

Thanks, Woosh. I didn't word my query very well - I meant that BMSB having tested it gave me confidence to go ahead.

Test Q128C before building into wheel?

My Q128C & controller kit finally arrived last month, and I had planned to test it before having the motor built into a wheel. For a long list of reasons I won't bore you with (primarily delays with a battery), I haven't been able to do so, and as I'm now desperate to get my trike motorised, I'm...

Kit for my Trike arrived! Now I just have to fit it.....

Well, after numerous delays and irritations (will document the story later), my Q128C motor and KT controller, etc., finally arrived - just in time for a very nasty bout of Aussie flu, which has delayed proceedings for another 3 weeks! This was originally a request for wiring guidance, but...

Kit list for my trike - Opinions appreciated

I still have much to learn! OK, so hauling around 100kg (trike + me) with a Q128C (201/260 rpm 36v running at 48v) in a 20" wheel, what sort of continuous & peak discharge rates should I be looking at? As I've said before, most of my riding will be on no more than gentle inclines, but I'd like...

Kit list for my trike - Opinions appreciated

Thanks AK, but can you enlighten me? Does that make one better than the other, or simply offer different characteristics?

Kit list for my trike - Opinions appreciated

At long last, I've ordered the motor & controller, etc. I'm now considering going straight to 48v and so I'd be grateful for battery advice, please. I'm considering this: http://eclipsebikes.com/product_info.php?products_id=147 But is it really worth over £130 more than this...

ICE Trikes - ebike parts clear out on eBay - Sunstar S03, Ansmann Hub

Hope this doesn't contravene forum rules, but may be of interest to some of you. ICE trikes (based in Cornwall) are having a clear out, and have a Sunstar S03 mid drive motor (plus spares), an Ansmann hub, and miscellaneous other ebike bits up for sale on ebay. Here's the link for the S03...

Do you think this kit may be a tad tail-heavy? :) https://player.vimeo.com/video/244249579

Kit list for my trike - Opinions appreciated

Thanks AK - I'll be sure to do that! Dropouts are quite shallow vertical type in aluminium alloy lugs. Don't know what torque they're rated at, so will just play safe and get torque arms.

Kit list for my trike - Opinions appreciated

Thanks once again to everyone for your advice. I’d now be very grateful for any further observations before placing my orders. The common thread of your suggestions is Q128C 36v, 500w, 201 (actually 260) rpm run at 48v. This looks good to me, as I have a 36v 17ah battery which I bought a while...

Kit list for my trike - Opinions appreciated

Thanks, everyone, for your comments - hugely helpful and informative, as always. I'll go away and mull over the options and will probably post the final choice for approval (of compatibility), get my orders placed, and look forward to a new motor-assisted cycling season.

Kit list for my trike - Opinions appreciated

Thanks for the comprehensive reply as usual, AK. I'm going to have to take some time and digest those options. Current rear gearing is 8-speed Shimano long cage XT and the derailleur is already pretty damn close to the dirt in bottom gear!

Kit list for my trike - Opinions appreciated

Thanks again. I had considered the 2-speed Xiongda, as it would seem to meet my needs well. However, I've read in other threads that it doesn't like being rolled backwards. The Scorpion is a tadpole with a poor turning circle, so plenty of legging it back when turning in tight spots! It is...

Kit list for my trike - Opinions appreciated

Thanks d8veh. My trike has 20" wheels all round (I would have preferred 26" rear, but this one came along at the right price). Can't find my handbook at the moment, but I'm pretty sure it's 145mm between the dropouts. I'm not worried about top speed, just help when I need it. I don't, however...

Kit list for my trike - Opinions appreciated

Thanks Nealh. I was looking at the motors ready-built into a wheel and, as the Q128's listed in that range are only rated at 201 rpm, they would rotate too slowly for a 20" rim (top speed around 11 mph?) and I had dismissed them. However, you say they're actually 260 rpm, which may change...

Kit list for my trike - Opinions appreciated

I had become convinced that crank drive was the way to go with my HPV Scorpion trike, but having read a few recent threads regarding CD set-ups, I’m having second thoughts: 1) I have a muscle-wasting condition which means I need a serious granny ring to pedal unassisted on anything other than a...

    MXUS Crank Drive kit

Just came across this online, and thought I'd post it as although MXUS motors regularly feature on here, I haven't seen this CD kit referred to previously. Not planning on going for it myself as it has a torque sensor, which doesn't suit my needs. May be of interest to others, though...
